So little Flora has been with us for an entire year now. A bit of a rollercoaster ride at times and she’s definitely been the most emotionally challenging dog we’ve ever had in over 30 years of rescue dogs but we are through to the other side and she’s the happiest and most loving of dogs now. Happy gotcha day Flora x

So another milestone today. Flora managed a walk through the woods off lead for the entire time today. It was like having a normal dog! We’ve been having entire beach walks off lead for about a month now but the woods have far more distracting sights and smells so we are really pleased. Flora loved it of course and although it might not seem like a big deal to some people it’s a very long way from the terrified little pup who arrived ten months ago….

Lovely light on our walk on St Ouen’s beach this afternoon. Flora’s recall is now good enough that she can spend the whole of a beach walk off the lead which she loves

So today, after having been to weekly training classes for the last month and working hard on our recall, we plucked up the courage to allow Flora off the lead for the first time. We were early on the beach and there were no other dogs about so we took the plunge. Flora loved being able to gallop about with Lily as she does in the garden at home. There was a heart stopping moment when she locked onto a crow which she proceeded to chase up the length of the beach completely oblivious to all else. Having followed it into the sea she then came out of her hunting trance pretty quickly and came back to find us. Not perfect but you’ve got to start somewhere and to be honest it’s something we weren’t sure we’d ever be able to do.

Yesterday we took Flora out for a walk to Gronez Castle. She loves climbing up onto any rock, bank or other vantage point so the castle walls provided the ideal opportunity!

Flora has been here nearly two months now and is slowly getting more confident. Today we had a lovely two hour walk down the entire length of St Ouen’s beach from L’Etaquarel to La Pulente. Flora loved meeting other dogs and was even brave enough to go up to some strangers for a pat. She is now snoring away on the sofa. Next week we are signed up for our first dog training class which she will be attending with her big sister Lily for moral support.

Flora has now been with us for just over a month and today she had her first beach walk. She loved all the new sights and smells, tried picking up just about every piece of seaweed on the beach, rolled on the sand, rolled on the seaweed, tried (and failed!) to eat a limpet shell but couldn’t be persuaded to dip her toe in the sea yet. Think she will sleep well tonight!

Today Flora went on her first little car trip. She loved watching the world go by the windows and really enjoyed walking through the woods at Egypte. We are all looking forward to our new found freedom to explore.

Today Flora started her training in earnest. We have begun whilst out walking as that is where she is most relaxed. We were practicing our sit and walking to heel. Sitting practice went well but ear control in the wind needs some work!

Flora has gained in confidence this week and we now go to the cliffs to walk every day which she loves. She is also allowing us to stroke her whilst she is on her bed and will even come over to ask for pats if you are sitting at a desk or table. Proper training will start in earnest next week now that she has decided we are no longer quite so frightening.

Flora has been here just under a fortnight now and has gained enough confidence to have her first walk on the extendable lead today. She loves the extra freedom and being able to snuffle along with her big sister Lily.

So Flora has now been here a week and yesterday we managed a walk to the cliffs. The longest walk yet and she was quite tired by the time she got home but she was much more interested in everything around and the tail was up and wagging for most of the way. Flora is also joining us in the sitting room every evening and now lies on the carpet in front of the fire rather than behind the sofa - we are making progress!

So today we managed a walk out for the first time. Just half an hour round the lanes but it was more than enough for Flora who zonked out as soon as she got home. We also made it into the sitting room last night. She spent the evening behind the sofa rather than on it with us but it’s a step up from the kitchen!

Today Flora has spent a lot of time in the garden pottering about with us. She is getting slowly more relaxed with us and watches big sister Lily all the time to see how the world works. This afternoon she plucked up the courage to have a zoomie session with Lily for a good ten minutes. We are thrilled at this small step forward.

Flora had a quiet night in her crate and got up at six to be clean in the garden. Still very nervous and wary of people but she loves her new big sister Lily and likes to copy everything she does!

Flora has finally finished the last leg of her journey to her forever home here in Jersey. She is very tired and a bit overwhelmed but has met her older sister Lily, had a bowl of chicken and rice and is now curled up sleeping. Thank to everyone involved in helping us get her here - Janice and Lena from Apollo’s Angels, Becky who kindly stepped in and collected her for us at stupid o’clock this morning before delivering her to the airport for her final flight today and Bob who flew her back to Jersey on his plane for us.

Shiva arrived safely at her overnight home. Exhausted and frightened. She will travel onwards to her forever home in Jersey later today.

Shiva one of the 3 very nervous pups we had come in several months ago with mum Indra
She's now 6 months old and ready to find her forever home
They are big leggy , stocky pups so will be large when fully grown
Because of how nervous they were we are looking for a child free home so it's quieter for settling them in and with another balanced well adjusted playful dog as a companion
Breed and rescue experienced will take preference
Can travel in March.
