This week involved something a little different….
…I took a trip to the Suffolk Show to help out a client who needed a bit more confidence instilled in her dog in such environments.
Mango’s owner Nicola is a designer and takes her handmade collection on her stand to all the big shows and equine events.
However, young Mango isn’t quite relaxed enough to be the face of the business yet, particularly when other dogs are near.
So while Nicola was running the stand, I arrived early with Mango to make the most of the quietest part of the day and we spent the morning taking things slowly.
From the moment we parked up, we sat and calmly watched the people, dogs, mobility scooters, umbrellas, and much more, whilst Mango learnt that she didn’t need to panic and take charge of the situation because I had it all in hand.
By taking things at her pace, giving her the space she needed, and by rewarding the calm behaviours that we want to encourage, Mango managed to make it comfortably to the stand nicolasextonofficial to see Nicola & Charlie.
Here she coped with other dogs walking past her and into the stand…she was even relaxed enough for me to enjoy a glass of fizz with Nicola! 🥂
We explored the rest of the show in our own time, and after a few of hours just before she had mentally had enough, we calmly made our way home again.
Lots more work to do, but huge progress made this week. Mango worked her socks off putting her trust in me.
Thank you Nicola for trusting me with your beautiful dog.
We had a throroughoy enjoyable day together and met a whole load of lovely people throughout. 🥭 ❤️
