Please read this very important message! 🙏🏽

Here is a perfect example of how easily a tennis ball could get lodged in a larger breed dog's throat.
Here at Dog First Aid we recommend always giving your dog a ball that is too large to fit in their throat to avoid dangerous mishaps.
It is also possible to buy balls with holes through them to enable the dog to still breathe if the ball were to get stuck in the airway.

Please be careful if your dogs love to swim in lakes and ponds! 🥺😢

For PET OWNERS that take their dogs to lakes and creeks, please read this warning from Morgan & Patrick Fleming.

This morning we thought, it’s so hot! Let’s go to the lake! We took our sweet Arya to the lake and had the best day playing ball and swimming around! About 30 minutes later on the drive home, we noticed her making weird noises and she threw up and pooped in the car. We called our vet on the drive and they suggested we take her in. By this point our girl couldn’t even stand. They told us she was in critical condition so we took her to the ER. By the time we got there, she was brain dead. Today was absolutely awful. We lost our fun, loving, and crazy girl to what we can only assume was a lake toxin such as blue green algae. Arya, no dog will ever replace you in our hearts. We already miss you more than you could know. I hope you’re running around like a wild girl with all the other boarder collies in doggo heaven ♥️

🥵 HEATSTROKE IN DOGS! 🥵

As the weather gets warmer, let's keep our furry friends safe by:
🐶 making sure they always have access to fresh water
🐶 having some enrichment toys ready to mentally stimulate as they will still have lots of energy but won't be able to go outdoors! (Lickmats and kong toys are perfect for this!)
🐶 keep windows open, place some fans around where the dogs rest
🐶 walk your dogs earlier in the morning and later at night!

Want to know our secret?! 🤫😋
We don't use chemical deworming tablets on our dogs! This is because they damage the dog's natural gut flora balance, have harmful side effects and we much prefer using natural remedies!
🐶 First things first, worm count your dog, there are kits available to purchase online (send me a DM if you're not sure which one to get!)
🐶 If the results don't show any signs of parasites, your dog is WORM FREE! 🙌🏾
🐶 We use furry treats to clean the digestive tract as well as natural supplements such as Verm-X to keep those 🪱 away!!
Did you know that the following foods can also be great for deworming:
- carrots
- beetroot
- banana
- apple
- coconut
- papaya
- turmeric
- pumpkin seeds
- cloves!!!
