Eeeek!
So delighted to receive this email today!
Helping dogs and their families overcome separation anxiety is a real passion and honour 🥰
Congrats Basil 👏
He has just joined the 1 hour club 🩷
Have you wondered why your dog barks when you go out?
Are you getting complaints from your neighbours?
Barking when left is one of the signs you dog has separation anxiety!
If you are not sure, please feel free to reach out for a chat
Do you come home to dog mess after being out?
One sign that a dog is suffering from separation anxiety is urination and or defication when left alone.
This isn't the same as a puppy who is being toilet trained or dog that toilets inside when you are home and in the same room.
Dogs with separation anxiety tend to only do this when they are left alone in a room or separated from their special person or left alone when you are out.
This can be really upsetting for you and frustrating, it can even feel like your dog is protesting, particularly if you have walked them before they were left.
But, it actually means that your dog is feeling really worried and stressed about being left alone. They aren't doing it to upset you.
When helping dogs overcome their anxiety of being left alone , we are helping them feel more confident.
We aren't training them to stay on their mat or bed whilst we are away. That's completely unrealistic.
It's important they feel calm and relaxed enough to move around.
In this video Verne gets up and moves to another bed and also is calm when his person returns 🥰
Having a noise sensitive dog can really impact how happy they are when being left home alone.
Milo needed extra support and time at the beginning but just look at this now!
With spring coming, Amanda can look forward to some lovely pub lunches without Milo this year 🥰
So happy for Sarah and Baxter 🥰
Aria is a ‘lockdown puppy’ and we had never left her alone.
As time went by, it became harder to do, as she would sometimes show signs of distress when any family member left, even if others were still around. Her character is such that she generalises problems very quickly, so we were keen to handle this in the right way, rather than ending up with a huge issue.
Kim suggested we try her mini separation anxiety course, to see how we got on. This was a fantastic way to test out the method and understand the commitment required. The group zoom calls were great – everyone was really supportive of each other and Kim guided us through the process with encouragement and advice.
We then signed up for group follow on support, with a dedicated Facebook group and weekly calls. Kim was great at giving prompt feedback on videos, managing our increasing target durations (making sure we didn’t push too hard too early) and helping us to grow in confidence.
After 4 months or so, Aria has now reached 2.5 hours absence, which feels right for us at this stage. She often sleeps through the absence, but will sometimes wait patiently for us, without any distress.
I have been clothes shopping for the first time in 3 years, visited the Tate Britain and met friends for coffee – in short, I have a big slice of normal life back. Thank you so much Kim, I really don’t think I could have done it without you!
Carolyn and Aria
Loki is a young Beagle that was rushing after everyone when they went to leave a room.
She was getting anxious when she thought they might leave. After a few days of practise this is how she coped
Yay!
Well done Verne! Beautifully relaxed instead of rushing to the door worried to be left alone. 🥰
Incy is an anxious little poppet 💔
Her family were unable to move out of her sight without her getting upset, barking and rushing to join them.
Here you can see her Mum is able to actually leave the room and close the door behind them! Whoohoo
Food won't fix your dogs separation anxiety!
Unfortunately, leaving your dog with a chew or a bowl of food won't help them feel better.
😞 Some dogs feel so upset they won't even touch the food or treats you leave them until you get home
😬 Some dogs will scoff down the treats but then are stressed once they have eaten them all. You can't leave more and more food to distract them
💔 Using food just masks your dogs stress and worry and may even cause your dog a worry to eat💔
By building your dogs confidence and strategic short absences, gradually built up - your dog will learn that nothing scary is going to happen and that you are always going to return.
Absolutely thrilled to see how well this gorgeous pair are doing after attending my 10 day mini course 🥰
Whoo-hoo 🥳🥳
No stress, no fuss, just a content dog being left, home alone and a very happy Carolyn!

Does your puppy follow you around and get upset when you leave?
Do you feel trapped in your own home? Or guilty when going out? 💔
I want to let you know that you aren't alone and it doesn't have to be so stressful for you or your dog.

Yay! After a tricky start Baxter is progressing really well!
He is soooooo relaxed he even had a little snooze 😴 🧡🩷❤
Are you feeling overwhelmed?
Having a dog with separation anxiety can be exhausting and debilitating but witht he right help and support you CAN start to enjoy your freedom again.
AND
Your dog can feel ok when being left alone
Are you feeling trapped because you can't leave your dog alone?
I have been supporting Lena with Reubens and this week she has been able to go out and do 'normal' things without him there
Who can see Baxter all snuggled up?
After a challenging start Baxter is now progressing along nicely with his absence training
Buddy is a sensitive cocker spaniel
Pam and her husband have not been out of their home together without arranging for someone to watch Buddy for a couple of years!!
So, although it might not be very exciting to some, we are doing a happy dance for them
It's upsetting to come home to chewed up furntiure or a scrtach door.
It's stressful to come home to pee/poop or complaints about your dog barking.
It can feel like your dog is deliberately misbehaving......
BUT
The truth is, your dog is really struggling with being left alone and is very likely suffering from separation anxiety.
Your dog doesn't need to suffer and you don't need to live with the challenges you are experiencing.
My mini course starts soon, you can secure your place to begin a better life together https://www.dogsupportbykim.co.uk/mini-course/
eeeek!
Here is a little update on Aria's progress
Aria has been working on feeling comfortable when left alone.
We aren't aiming for a dog to stay on a mat or sleep the entire time, what we are working towards is a dog that feels "ok' when alone!
This clip is fabulous because Aria spots a spider running along the floor and engages with "hunt the spider'
No food distraction, no crating, no stress!
8 minutes achieved in just a few weeks weeks!
We are working towards her family being able to enjoy a little tipple at the pub for Christmas with Aria relaxed at home. 🍷
It's tonight!
FREE live talk on separation anxiety
Would you like to find out more about separation anxiety?
I am holding a live talk on Monday 7th November via zoom at 8pm, if you want to attend please secure your place asap.
It's free
Celebrating the wins! 🥰🥳
Verne is so relaxed after his separation anxiety training 🤣🥰😴😴

From feeling stressed, crying, jumping up and pacing to relaxed and calm! Join me next week for a mini introductory course to start your journey to freedom and your dogs journey to zen alone time 🥰
In this clip, to the left you can see young Verne <3 just 4 weeks ago Verne had a hyper attachment to his Dad. This meant any time he was was parted from from him, he would cry, bark and be stressed. Being left alone was NOT an option at all; he would jump at the doors, bite, jump up, whine and cry. As well as being very stressful for Verne it was very upsetting for his family! Verne still has a lot of training to do, but just look at how calm he is in this clip!!!! Leaving your dog home alone does not need to be stressful for you or for your dog! I can help you <3 If you are feeling overwhelmed, helpless but keen to learn then this introductory course is for you! Starts Tuesday 27th September AND - It's all online so you don't need to leave your dog! <3 Live coaching <3 Live video's <3 group support Just £49 until tomorrow https://www.dogsupportbykim.co.uk/mini-course/
