Morning everyone.

The shop will be late opening today. Someone has left us a rather unpleasant present on the doorstep that's going to take some time to clear up.

It's not something we've ever had a problem with up until now but it's been happening regularly over the past few weeks. I've started having to come down on my days off to check the outside of the shop after the weekend and regularly clean up human vomit, dog mess, half eaten takeaways.

I know the people responsible aren't going to see this but it's so incredibly disheartening and honestly just a really grim way to start the day.

So whoever you are, whether you know us or it's just a random coincidence- Stewarton is our home. Please show it and us a little bit of human decency and respect, thank you.

Our freezers are stuffed full to the brim today but they won't stay that way for long! We've sold over 100kg in 24 hours- and we aren't even open on Mondays 😄

We know it can be frustrating to come down and find the freezers empty so, as an added incentive, we've introduced a loyalty scheme to make ordering in advance even more rewarding (oooooh!)

🙏 WE NEED YOUR HELP 🙏

Afternoon everyone! There are so many ways that your support makes a difference here at Dog and Hound HQ, but never more so than when disruption hits.

We're about as small as a small family business can be so even when the shop isn't open, the two of us are working away behind the scenes to keep the shelves stocked, deliveries moving and everything running smoothly- but sometimes life still gets in the way.

So, unfortunately, we're not going to be able to host our usual Open Doors Wednesday due to maintenance being done at the unit- but we will be down at the shop from 9:30am-4pm

On Thursday, we'll be closing at lunchtime- I'm no further along after the tests I had over the summer and still in pain so I'll be heading over for my follow up appointment to talk about next steps.

As always, I'll post reminders on our socials, and pop a sign outside with our contact details for anyone affected by the early close. In the meantime a like, a comment, even a quick text to anyone friends who might have been coming down- it all goes a long way.

I'll be offline tonight and tomorrow but before I go I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who's entered our giveaway (see last night's post) and/or popped in for samples of our new foods today!

Like always, it's important to us that everyone feels comfortable and confident about the products they buy from us so here's a few FAQs about the new products...

❓Are they suitable for special diets❓

We would always recommend popping in for a chat so we can pair you with your perfect recipe but yes, Dogs Know Best is available in single source, novel, and hypoallergenic proteins. All recipes are grain free and our 80-10-10 raw range is perfect for elimination diets.

❓ Are they available in other pack sizes❓

Yes! We've got 12kg bags ready to go, but 2kg bags are also available to order.

❓Will my fussy dog enjoy them❓

We've got three sample varieties available for your dogs to taste test - Italian Buffalo, Rabbit and Venison. We've deliberately chosen flavourful, exciting proteins AND all of the Dogs Know Best recipes are made with fresh, whole ingredients to make them naturally tasty.

Today we're celebrating the heart and soul of the Dog and Hound Boutique!

Five years ago today, Abby came home and made us a family. She brought mischief and adventure and so many wonderful opportunities with her. From day one she's been the kind of dog that captures hearts wherever she goes and never lets her past hold her back.

Happy Gotcha day Abby!!

Today also happens to be Alba's birthday, and the anniversary of the day she was found. I'm so immensely proud of who and what she's become since then. Proud shop dog, Captain of the Anxious Dogs Club, and the silliest, most sincere dog you'll ever meet in your life.

Happy Birthday Alba!!

We'll be offline tomorrow, celebrating as a family, but there's still time to pop by the shop and stock up for the weekend. We'll be here until 4pm 🥳

The Anxious Dogs Club isn't just about anxious dogs. It's about their humans too!

For me, it's an hour or two a week where I can connect with the community around me. No screens, no running around juggling too many stresses, just being out and about and spending time with awesome people and awesome hounds.

We laugh about the ridiculous lives we share with our dogs, take comfort from people who've been where we are, we support each other in our training goals and celebrate each other's progress.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
On Wednesdays, you'll find me and Alba up at our unit on Avenue Street- catching up on deliveries, website updates, emails and all the odd jobs of the week.

You can pop by and browse our gift shop, or grab a book from our training and nutrition library. You can bring your dogs along for a play date with Alba, or grab some bargains from the end of line sale stock. You can place click & collect orders if you need something specific, or browse the food and treats on hand at the unit.

Tomorrow we'll be there from 10:30am-2:30pm, so get your orders for collection in before 9am.

On a happier note, we're delighted to announce that as of today we're official My Anxious Dog partners 🥳

Together we aim to raise awareness and create supportive spaces for fearful dogs.

In addition to our community social events, and private shopping experiences, we'll now also be offering discounts on all ANXIOUS dog merchandise from the My Anxious Dog store!

Wearing yellow is a simple and unobtrusive way to let those around you know that your dog needs space (you can also use green collars or leads if your dog is friendly and welcomes interactions with other dogs).

THISTLE be a strange post... but bear with me... Many many years ago, I landed my first job after graduation and accidentally found myself touring Scotland with the Commonwealth Games promotional event team. I couldn't possibly tell you what my job was. I had to sign an NDA agreement about my secret identity and people might get a little bit PRICKLY about me spilling the secret, but today's parade really brought back some fond memories. Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes today! Abby had a genuinely wonderful time and it means so much to us that we were able to celebrate together as a family. Today was doubly important as we adopted Abby at four and a half years old. From this point onwards she's had a family and a home for longer than she lived in neglect and that's a milestone I've been looking forward to since the day she came to us! To celebrate, we've been trying out our new DIY treat kits from Dog & Bond. I have to admit, they're a whole lot of fun, super easy to use AND the cutters and molds are reusable! How awesome is that!?! We'll let you know what Abby has to say about them when she wakes up from her epic birthday nap. She's sleeping with a big ol' smile on her face tonight and that's all down to you folks. Thank you 💛

💛💛 What a week! 💛💛 We've had not one, not two but THREE Anxious Dog Walks including a very special reunion! I wish I had a video of where these three happy-go-lucky pups started. Looking at them now, it's hard to believe how far they've come with just a little bit of support and dedication. They've worked hard, their families have worked hard, and I honestly couldn't be more proud (and yes, that is our Alba off lead for the first time!). Don't forget, our ANXIOUS DOGS CLUB SOCIAL is coming up this week.
