My name is Becky and as an RVN and a Canine Behaviourist my aim is to enable dogs to function as effectively as possible in their environments and allow their owners to develop the skill set required to manage their needs safely. I am a Qualified, Registered Veterinary Nurse currently employed

in practice with over 10 years’ experience working with dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes. I am based in Chatham, Kent and aim to cover the surrounding areas. I work in both in your home and can also take your dog out in real-life environments.

🎆 Bonfire Night Tips for Pet Owners 🎆

Bonfire Night can be a fun evening, but it’s often stressful for our pets due to the noise and flashing lights. Here are some tips to help keep your furry friends calm and safe tonight:

🐾 Create a Safe Space
Make a cosy, quiet area for your pets to retreat to if they feel scared. Add some blankets, their favorite toys, or even turn on a soft, familiar noise like a TV or fan to mask the sound 💓

🎶 Background Noise Helps
Play calming music or turn on the TV to help drown out the sound of fireworks. Keeping curtains closed can also help block out the bright flashes 📺

🦴 Offer Distractions
Treat-dispensing toys or a new chew can keep pets occupied and less focused on the noise outside 🧸

👀 Keep Pets Indoors
For safety, make sure your pets are indoors well before dusk. Keep windows and doors closed to prevent any attempt to escape 🏠

🆘 Stay Calm
Pets often pick up on our emotions. Try to stay calm and act normally around them. Reassuring them with a calm voice can make a huge difference 🐾

Just finished a lovely 2-day cat sit with Dobby, and it’s so rewarding to see cats like him relaxed and comfortable in their own home 🏡

There are so many benefits to having a cat stay at home when you’re away: less stress from travel, keeping their familiar routines, and of course, the security of their own space. Dobby was able to sleep in his favourite spots, play with his favourite toys, and have all the comforts he’s used to—plus, lots of cuddles from me! ❤️

We love an Autumn walk but as the seasons change and the days grow shorter, it’s important to be aware of the hidden risks autumn can bring for our pets. Here are a few things to watch out for in this season 🍂

1. Toxic Plants & Mushrooms: Autumn is prime time for mushrooms and fungi, some of which are poisonous to dogs (and cats.) Also, be cautious with conkers (horse chestnuts) and acorns, which are harmful if ingested 🍄

2. Rodenticides & Antifreeze: As the weather cools, more people use rat poisons and antifreeze, both of which are extremely toxic to pets. Ensure they are stored securely and spills are cleaned up immediately 🐀

3. Bonfire Night & Fireworks: Loud bangs from fireworks can be terrifying for pets. Make sure they have a safe, quiet place indoors to retreat to, and consider using calming aids if they are particularly anxious 🔥🎆

4. Cold Weather: While autumn temperatures aren’t as harsh as winter, it can still get chilly. Ensure your pets are kept warm and dry, especially older pets or those with short coats ❄️

5. Ticks: Ticks remain active in the UK during autumn, especially in rural areas. Regularly check your pet after walks and continue with flea and tick prevention 🪲
