I have over 10 years of experience working with animals and I pride myself on offering a pet centered service that is fully insured. I am also trained in canine first aid and body language, DBS checked and have a level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management. Snow day! 💙

One of my camera lenses is cracked meaning my pictures aren’t as good quality particularly in low light, but I gave it my best shot today as I know you all love snow pics ❄️

With some extreme weather on the way this week, I’ll be in touch if I need to adjust walks. As always my priority is the safety of the dogs.

Meet Freddie! Freddie first came to see us for puppy class and he was a star pupil, super confident and really engaged with his training. Unfortunately when he was around seven months old he was chased and frightened by a dog which really knocked his confidence around other dogs.

It's really common for dogs to experience what's known as a 'secondary fear period' sometime around six to fourteen months old. When they have a bad experience at this age the fear tends to stay with them for longer, and we believe this is what happened to little Freddie.

Howeever with the help of trusty stooge dogs Algebra and Bob we managed to help Freddie find his sparkle again and he was even confidence enough to have an off lead play with Bob last week which left us all beaming!

Here are some things to look out for that may suggest your dog is experiencing a secondary fear period:

🐾Becoming more hesitent when approaching novel objects

🐾Reluctance to approach strangers

🐾Seeming more alert or even hypervigilant on a walk

🐾Becoming very still or freezing when approached by people or dogs

🐾More easily distracted

🐾Increased difficulty disengaging from things

🐾 Barking at or being 'sppoked' by things that they were previously confident with
