So as many of you know I’m a little bit agility obsessed. However last year I gave mantrailing a try with Jet while she was out on injury and turns out she is really good at it and loves it!
Mantrailing is a where a “missing person” or “misper” leaves a scent article (something that smells like them) on the ground and the dog follows their scent trail to find them. It’s a great sport that is low impact and dogs of all ages can get involved. It is also brilliant for working a dog’s brain but also boosts their confidence.
Here is Jet doing her thing for a fun session with a friend on the longest trail she’s ever done lasting about 7 minutes long. The video is a bit bouncy but I was recording while following her 🤣🤣
What a day! Sorry guys for no photos but hope this video explains why 😂😂
My guys waiting not so patiently for their physio session this afternoon 😂
My two train and compete in agility and so I get them checked every 8 weeks for any muscle tweaks to help keep them in top condition. However, I also believe it’s really important even for dogs who don’t participate in sports to get checked out by a physio for any tweaks. Dogs are very good at hiding when things aren’t quite right and will still participate in their regular activities even though it may cause them pain. Often dogs with behavioural issues can actually have an underlying issue that’s been causing them discomfort and is a factor to their behaviour. More often than not any time Jet has had any niggles it has been due to her slipping in mud and causing a muscle damage. Did you know that in can take 6-8 weeks for smaller strains to heal? And longer depending on the severity of the strain?
