Flooding! What is it? Why do we avoid it?

Flooding involves exposing puppies and dogs to fear-inducing stimulus at a high intensity, in the hopes they will eventually become desensitised to it and is not something we would ever advise when training a puppy.

Flooding your puppy can be quite stressful for them and has the potential to have an adverse effect causing them to shut down, actually making the fear worse!

We suggest opting for an approach of gentle desensitisation and exposure, where the puppy is slowly exposed to stimulus with appropriate amounts of space, paired with positive reinforcement to create positive experiences.

Our Puppy Socialisation & Exposure Courses along with our drop in Puppy Club Socialisation classes and Foundation Courses are a great way to avoid potential risks of flooding as our sessions are fully managed and controlled along with quiet zones to enable puppies to have an enjoyable experience as well as an opportunity to learn about dog body language and appropriate meet and greets so you can advocate for puppy in situations where they are feeling stressed and nervous.

If you are looking to build a more confident & resilient puppy that is able to adapt and handle real life situations then look no further than our brand new 3-Week Puppy Exposure & Socialisation Training Course!

This 3-Week course has been designed by our fully qualified and Accredited IMDT & Easy Peasy Puppy Instructors to teach handlers about understanding canine body language and how to safely introduce your puppy to other puppies and dogs both on and off lead where your puppies will also be carefully selected with other appropriate puppies suited to your puppies temperament.

As well as supervised interactions with other puppies, your puppy will also be carefully exposed to sights, sounds and textures gently throughout the course to help develop all important resilience, problem solving skills and preparation for life in our world.
🐶 Puppies must be 6 months or under
🐶 Puppies must be fully vaccinated
🐶 Great opportunity to bond with your dog
🐶 Meet other local puppy owners in the area
🐶 All the family welcome (under 18’s must be supervised)
