To calculate the caloric intake, you need to read the instructions of the food brand you bought. Your vet can’t know all the variances, there are over 100 brands in the market 😃

💡Case of the week 💡

🐶Luna had upset tummy and diarrhea for the last week. Her faeces were very loose and yellow.

Luna grabbed some chicken in the park during her daily walks, that made her tummy upset.

🚨Badly preserved chicken and anything your pet can eat in the street can cause serious stomach issues!

👩‍⚕️What to do:

- Ask vet advice. A check up is necessary to check dogs hydration, vitals and pain levels
- Make sure you start your dog immediately a gastrointestinal bland diet and keep her/him on a lead to avoid any more treats upseting the tummy.
- start probiotics
- ensure your pet is up to date with worm treatment
- ask your vet to do a faecal culture. Sometimes worms can cause long term issues and early treatment can be the key.

📜If a cat lives exclusively indoors, they will still need to be vaccinated against cat flu and panleukopenia, Feline rhinotracheitis virus, feline calici virus, and feline panleukopenia virus make up the feline distemper complex. Vaccination against the feline distemper complex is important because these diseases can be deadly and can spread on clothes, shoes, and other surfaces.
Can a vaccinated cat still catch cat flu? Although vaccinations provide excellent protection, none can guarantee 100% cover. So yes, theoretically, a vaccinated cat could still catch cat flu, but it is significantly less likely. In addition to this, if a vaccinated cat catches a disease they have been vaccinated against, they are likely to develop less symptoms and have a much quicker recovery.
👩‍⚕️How long do cat vaccines last? The length of vaccination protection depends on the disease, the type of vaccine used and your cat’s immune system.
📜As a general rule, FeLV vaccination protection lasts for about a year, and herpes, calici and panleukopenia last for around three years. However, this can last a little longer (often 2-3 months more) if you’ve kept your cat’s vaccines up to date throughout their lives.

Ozzy became a beautiful big boy and he still has a long way to go. Did you know that Puppies of large breeds usually reach full physical maturity at around the same time as medium-sized breeds, having a growth spurt between 8-14 months?

Oisin is helping me sign his vaccination card. He is super happy I visited him at home and was very brave with the injection.

Did you know that dogs need to be vaccinated every 2 times (2-4weeks apart) when they are puppies and after that every year? The core vaccines cover for:
•Distemper
•Parvovirus
•Hepatitis
•Leptospirosis

The vaccination for Kennel cough is optional but protects your dog against the heavy symptoms of dog flu!

Give them food and you are your best friend! 🐶 Its always nice to offer them a treat 🥠so you make them more comfortable during the examination.

Our friend Toby suffers from skin allergy that has gone out of control. As you can see, he has red legs and wounds around his eyes with thickened and erythematous skin.

Seasonal allergy is something very common in the UK especially during summer months (June-September)

It is usually caused by pollen and mites, but there are more than 4000 factors that could cause it 😰. The symptoms are usually itchiness around the eyes, ears and legs. If you notice your friend being itchy, take him to vet asap. The sooner you notice it, the better the management can be. Toby had to take antibiotics and a longer treatment because he came late. Now he is doing great after love and meds ❤️
