Her owner died and owners son had 3 days to get her out of his flat that didnt allow dogs, so we took her on as a foster, but shes here to stay 🥰

Another pigeon successfully treated and released! This one stayed for about two weeks and had a nasty eye infection which was cleared up with anti-inflamms and painkillers before being released 🪶

4 more rescues this week, including these two leopard geckos that have both lost limbs, suspected through fighting, and have both dropped their tails at some point. Both are spending the majority of their time hiding at the moment, but that is to be expected in the first week or two. The male with the back foot missing also has a mouth wound that is currently being treated, but both are on the road to a better life! 🦎

Pickett the crested gecko is a permanent resident here, a rescue from Wacky exotic and was looked over many times by adopters due to his jumpy nature, but that makes us love him even more!

At the end of November, 6 more ex-battery hens joined our ranks. These hens are rescued by the British Hen Welfare Trust. At egg farms, when hens begin to slow down in production (at around 18 months), they are often culled to make room for new young hens with a high production rate. The BHWT works with farmers to rescue some of these hens and find them new homes. they often lack feathers due to close living conditions causing pecking and excessive grooming, but these ladies are already feathering up nicely and fitting in with my pre-existing flock!

I loved looking after these stinky boys a few weeks ago! I am always happy to adapt to the animal’s specific diet or care like this guy who is deaf and on a special diet.

Our latest resident! Picked up from someone on Facebook after flying into a window. I have taken it to the vets who have checked it over, and with no obvious signs of injury other than seeming unable to fly, they have discharged it to me. I am currently providing feed and water and releasing into a safe space daily to see if any flight progress has been made 🤞

A pleasure as always to walk and house-sit Charlie and Dexter! Short distance for old boy Dexter, and a long off-lead walk for Charlie with treats and cuddles afterwards :)
