Contract Type: From September 2024, fixed term for one academic year (to July 2024) in the first instance, with scope for permanent employment
Working Pattern: Mon-Fri Term Time Only 8am – 3pm + 5 days
Salary: £18,000 per annum actual

Position: SEN/D Teaching Assistant
Hopefields is an Independent School for young people with aged 11 – 16 years with additional complex and/or social, emotional and mental health needs.
Committed to improving the education and life chances for young people from across the Tees Valley and with a strong track record of transformative success for students, Hopefields is now seeking to recruit a suitably qualified SEN/D Teaching Assistant to join our existing team.
Hopefields delivers a knowledge-rich curriculum within a warm but disciplined environment, being outcome led and outcome focused. Our thematic approach to curriculum intent and implementation provides meaningful holistic and therapeutic practices throughout the provision day, which the successful candidate would be expected to implement through intervention packages.
The education that Hopefields offers is tailored to individual need, delivered in a structured, holistic classroom environment benefitting from high staff to student ratios. The successful candidate would support packages of learning, assist with recording and monitoring of student progress and contribute to reports under the direction of teachers and HLTAs.
Candidates applying for this position would have experience of facilitating and supporting the education of vulnerable young people with additional needs who may have associated medical needs.
The successful candidate would be expected to have an understanding and working knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice in schools and an interest in professional development. A solid educational grounding and good general knowledge would be advantageous.
Candidates should be versatile, enthusiastic and flexible, with excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work independently, creatively and positively using their own initiative.
