So I may have just shed a tear 4 little Ellie & her mamma, for those of you who don't know, mamma grew up in a cult. Terribly lost voiceless and afraid. It was this that motivated her learning program to enable her feathered children to have voices. Teaching reading, writing, feelings and communication. Little Ellie is the star of her own story just like the dragons in her fairy tail books she loves to read

It's important to recognize that we need to include our feathered family in loss and grief. When members of our feathered family pass away, it can cause anxiety and trauma to our babies just as it does to us. Particularly in multi bird homes it can help to allow a bird to see and say goodbye to flock mates that pass away, and for us to take time to show you share their grief.

This little princess lost a feathered family member to Cancer and is lucky to have learned communication skills to help share her anxiety, so that mum can reassure her.

Small breed dogs generally have a longer life span than Larger Breeds.
We find it interesting that the reverse is true in the parrot kingdom, seeing larger species parrots often naturally living longer.

Wonder why?

Unlike our furry friends our Feathered Friends who live wild have far more predators in nature, sadly smaller species parrots make easier pray than those larger feathered relatives.

How old is your feather baby? And what species do you have?

Bird lifespans vary but with correct husbandry and good health they can live a long time. Please see the picture below for average life spans for individual breeds
