Please make sure your dog's collar has tags!
A tag on your dog's collar not only allows for fast reunion if you should get separated, it's also the law!
The Control of Dogs Order 1992 requires that all dogs in public places wear a collar with an ID tag that includes the owner's name and address. A mobile number isn't legally required but allows for you to be contacted quickly.
You can be fined up to £2000 if your dog doesn't have a tag that complies with these requirements!
I personally prefer Flexitags as they don't dangle but if you have a tag that attaches with a ring, check your tags haven't fallen off every time you put the collar on.

Some people might think that my set up for Duggie is a bit over the top but when you've got a dog who is a flight risk and can be reactive, in my opinion you can never be too safe!

• Ruffwear Flagline harness. It has an extra strap so is the most difficult for him to back out of. It has back and front attachment points for the lead for better control of three dogs whole body when needed. It also has a loop for attaching a light which we use every night for last walkies. There is even a handle so I can grab him easily if needed.

• Ruffwear Confluence waterproof collar. This is made with coated webbing which is wipe clean and doesn't get soaked and stinking like a fabric collar.

• Alfie's Leads Safety link. This attaches from Duggie's collar to his lead. We found in the early days of having Duggie that he can literally unclip a lead attached to his harness 🙈 so we now always have a safety clip attached to his collar so even if he manages to unclip from his harness, he is still attached by his collar.

• Flexitags ID tag on his collar. This has my surname, house number and address including postcode and my mobile number. These tags lay flat on the collar and don't dangle or jingle so are less likely to fall off and get lost. I don't have any unnecessary details on his tag like his name, only the information needed to comply with the law and ensure a quick reunion if we should ever get separated!

• Tractive tracker. Duggie is never off the lead in public but just in case he always wears a tracker.

• Halti double ended lead. I love being able to adjust the length of these leads and I also really like being able to attach the lead to the front and back of his harness.

• MMDOGGEAR walking belt. I wear this walking belt all the time and attach his lead to it so there is no chance I can accidentally drop the lead. It has bungee straps to take the strain off my back if he pulls. Really useful if you need both hands free on a walk for picking up p**p etc.

That's me finished for 2024, Merry Christmas to my pups and their families and a happy new year. Thank you so much for a wonderful year, it's definitely had it's ups and downs but seeing these gorgeous faces every day make everything better!
