* Important Announcement *

Unfortunately, the time has come for me to increase my equine physiotherapy prices. I have kept my prices the same for the last 3 years, however due to the increasing cost of fuel, equipment and CPD, as well as my increased experience, they will be increasing.

I really hope my lovely clients understand and support these changes - I put a lot of time into each animal’s appointment and my prices include exercises / rehab plans as well as being able to contact me between sessions with videos / questions / advice etc.

I am aware that December is a very expensive month for most people, and therefore my new prices will start from 1st January 2025. All current bookings for 2025 will be honoured at the original prices. Equine physiotherapy appointments (Initial and Follow up Assessments) will now be £60.

However, to help with this increase, I am reducing my group discount of £5 per horse from 3 horses to 2 horses on the same yard, when booked in at the same time.

Canine prices will be staying the same, as will the additional charge to use INDIBA Radiofrequency in a physiotherapy treatment and my INDIBA Radiofrequency treatments / packages in order to keep this fantastic modality as accessible as possible.

I want to take this time to say a massive thank you to all my clients - I am always so grateful for your support for my small business! ❤️

Just a little post to say that I am now taking a well-needed two weeks off (minus a few days here and there 😉)

As many of you will now know, I unfortunately lost my darling boy, Freddie, 2 weeks ago, and have carried on working as a distraction and to fit everyone in before some time off - I can’t thank all my lovely clients enough for their kind words, cards and flowers ❤️

Freddie was a true legend, and the inspiration behind me qualifying and setting up Abbott Veterinary Physiotherapy, so I have a LOT to thank him for! I’m sure he will still feature on this page as I have lots of groundwork videos from his last months keeping him comfortable and mobile in his retirement, which I’ll share when I can.

I’ll be back fully from Tuesday 27th August - I will be replying to emails / messages during this time, but please expect a slower response than normal - thank you ❤️

All messages will be replied to by 24th August - anything urgent please WhatsApp me but be aware my response will be slower than normal 💬

I just want to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU to all my AMAZING clients! The last few months have been so busy and I am so grateful to do a job I love ❤️

Practice what your preach! 😉🙌🏻

Most of my clients will have heard me talk about how much I love poles, especially walk poles… well here is my lovely horse Freddie have a play over some walk and trot poles on the lunge recently - just look at that joint movement 😍💪🏻

10/06/2023

All horses process the changes to their bodies in different ways within a session - some will yawn etc, whilst others will take themselves off to their own space to process.

Yesterday evening, mid way through a session, after performing a myofascial release on her shoulder, this lovely youngster took herself off and immediately lay down and fell asleep (snoring and dreaming!). It was quite incredible to watch, and really made my week! 🤩🥺

I love my job 🥺♥️

This must be Freddie’s reminder to me that I am having this weekend off! 🤣🐴🧢

All messages will be responded to on Tuesday 9th May!

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend! 👑🇬🇧

Christmas has come early at Abbott Veterinary Physiotherapy with the arrival of my new INDIBA Equus! 🎅🏻🎄🎁

An upgrade from my current machine… the same, fantastic 448kHz Radiofrequency (with scientific research from over 40 years showing the benefits of this frequency), but now smaller and lighter … amongst other new features!

448kHz has been shown to have multiple benefits, such as:
⭐️ Increasing microcirculation, including have immediate drainage effects
⭐️ Stimulates tissue regeneration
⭐️ Stimulates stem cell differentiation

What I love about INDIBA Radiofrequency is it’s versatility, it can be used to encourage tissue repair and pain management in the treatment of conditions including:

🔹 Tendon and ligament injuries
🔹 Osteoarthritis
🔹 Muscle tonicity and tears
🔹 Wounds

INDIBA used a closed circuit, which means that the radiofrequency offers unlimited depth, so can be used to treat areas that other electrotherapies and manual techniques cannot reach, such as the sacroiliac joints.

To find out more about this technology and see how it can benefit your horse, get in touch!

Winter has certainly arrived! The season of frozen water, de-icing cars and wearing as many layers as you own! With temperatures continuing to barely rise above freezing, it’s important as owners to really look out for our animals 🥶❄️🐴🐶

With the frosty and frozen fields, some horses may be having reduced turnout, so as tempting as it is to ride to give them more exercise, it is very important to check your arenas first!❗️

Despite being in the sun all day and a harrow this evening to soften the surface, my arena (which is usually pretty resilient in all weathers) was still too hard to do more than walk in tonight. Nevertheless, there is still so much we can do in walk! So tonight, I long reined my horse Freddie over a few different pole layouts, progressing to raised poles. Walk is often over looked with horses, but a mentally stimulating walk session can be just as beneficial, and physically stimulating, as a faster one, and is safer on our horses joints if the ground is too firm. Here are a few of my favourite exercises to include in a walk session:

🔹 Pole work (progressing from flat poles to raised poles)
🔹 Changes of bend and direction
🔹 Lateral work (such as shoulder in and leg yields)
🔹 Rein back
🔹 Transitions and square halts

Remember to always give your horse a good warm up and cool down before any exercise, and remember they may take longer to warm up in the colder weather.

I hope everyone (both humans and animals) stays safe and warm over this cold spell! 🥶🐴❄️

Before and after physiotherapy…🥰🤩

Tension, sensitivity and muscle spasms along the horse’s back is one of the most common findings during a physiotherapy session.

Causes can include:
🔹 Incorrect tack fit
🔹 Incorrect way of working
🔹 Poor posture, weaknesses elsewhere in the body, or underlying conditions
🔹 Slips or falls in the field (which is increasingly common with the current weather! ☔️)

Some horses will display obvious signs of discomfort with back pain, such as bucking or reluctance to be tacked up, whilst for others it can be more subtle, which is why physiotherapy is so important!

These videos were taken before and immediately after treatment to the area, which consistent of manual massage and spinal mobilisations 🤲🏻🐴

I had a fantastic evening doing a demonstration for Dartford and District Riding Club last night, including explaining all about INDIBA Radiofrequency!

Definitely out of my usual comfort zone as I have never been a big fan of public speaking, but great to do!

Thank you DDRC - I hope everyone enjoyed!
