I am on the lookout for a new sidekick. 👀
In September, our Marie went and left me 😢
She is doing fabulous things, pushing her own business on and lecturing. I do miss her Ingenious Dogs
But we worked so well together, she understood my teaching style, she knew my mad ways, she got (eventually) that I don’t do lesson plans! 😱
So, now, I would like to find someone to take her place, it would suit a self employed person who wants a few extra hours, mainly weekends.
This person:
🧡 loves dogs
❤️ willing to jump in feet first
🖤 takes things lightly (dogs can be challenging as well as wonderful)
💜 has a passion for training and behaviour and hopefully has a little experience
💙 has a good rapport with people
💛 enjoys motivating people and themselves
💚 can or wants to learn how to teach.
I’m great at coaching people, skills can be taught, however if you don’t have them, be prepared to be chucked in at the deepend! 🤣
A little of what I do 👇👇
Please do drop me an email explaining why you want to be my sidekick!

Stella!! I join Stella on a walk each Thursday to help her owner. You see, Stella can be a little reactive to people and dogs, this has caused her owner to avoid certain areas, because in her words “I just don’t know how to deal with it” My job is to take her out, observe and make changes, why do I do this without the owner? Well, dogs are great at patterns and they link owners to certain reactions. When I take her out and watch and feel what she is doing I can make a really good assessment and try to change that behaviour, whilst also taking her to places that her owner has avoided. I’m not going to say these are quick fixes and I’m not going to say that once a week is going to have a huge impact, but for these owners and dogs it gives them a new perspective. Owners are not dog trainers and ones I work with are fully aware of that, they need help not judgement. They need new eyes on the situation. This week Stella did a sterling job and we had less crazy reactions and more focus which was wonderful to see! #dogs #goodjob #reelschallenge
I have spent the day organising some of the thousands of hours of footage I have on training animals over the years.
I got thinking about target training and how it can be really beneficial in many ways. Most of you understand that an on your bed, or a place board is target training.
But how can we develop it onto other things? The thing about target training is it is endless, you are only limited by your imagination.
In this video are three clips, one of Mr Trix my old horse who used lots of defensive behaviours to stop you handling him, so one of the ways that I helped him was target training him to help stretch him so that he didn't have to be handled as much. The point to take from this, is that he was an animal in pain and did all he could to avoid being in pain, doing stretches was going to help him, but he didn't know that.
The second is of My old boy Leo, who was cast as Toto in the Wizard of Oz, he had to perform at Hull New Theatre and be lifted up in a basket when the Wicked Witch stole him. How to you explain to a dog that he will be safe, locked in a basket whilst being held above someone's head!
The third clip is Shadow, another of my old dogs who was my demonstration dog for Assistance dog work, he knew how to turn off light switches, close doors and draws, push footplates down, all because he knew how to target a board, when I then needed to teach something new, I brought the board out and transferred his known 'push' onto a new item.
You can use target training for multiple behaviours, for example a chin rest on a towel can be transferred to pressure on someone's knee (someone who needs pressure for support) it can be used to administer ear drops/eye drops, checking teeth. It is endless......
why not give it some thought and see what you can come up with?

I talk about place boards a lot in training, they can be so useful for many reasons 👇👇👇
Take a look, let me know what you think to them.
Love them? 💜

Dexter came for his holibobs, he had a wonderful time and it made me realise that 4 fox reds in the house is doable! What do you think? Should I add another one to the family?????? 🥰 #foxredlab #dogs #labrador #Funny #treats #Holidays #love #grandmalife
Because life just sometimes needs a little bit of fun, I decided to have a play with the new settings in my phone. As Jack is called Shootingsky Inferno, I thought this looked quite cool..... excuse the random camera waving, I still don't really know how to use technology!
what do you think???? 🤣🤣🤣

What an incredible day today! First was puppy class then two mixed ability classes Simply K9 Ltd 🌟
Then we headed off to No.123 The Old Post House for our social walk and café trip. We went for a walk around Newport, then we went to the café where Polly gives us sole use, this means that everyone can relax knowing that it is only us going in.
All the dogs got a pup cup and a natural treat box! And the owners get a drink and a cake. This service is only held for existing clients as it means that I can make sure everyone is successful.
Polly's love of dog's helps to make this possible, having sole use of the Café means that we can relax and chat and have some social time too.
THANK YOU POLLY! 💜

I offer walk and train sessions to known clients to help them to train ‘stuff’
These two boys are well know for dragging their guardian around, they are big and they are strong and they are determined!
We left the house with a big shout of “good luck” then 20 minutes later these two boys were pulling this out the bag. Both clever both want to learn, both absolutely smart as.
