S H I P P I N G U P D A T E

Our poorly 2 year old was admitted to hospital on New Year’s Day. We don’t know when we will be able to go home yet 🏥

It is also forecast to be extremely cold next week with overnight temperatures below 0°. This is not safe for posting LIVE insects. Our plan to post orders out next week is not looking like it can going ahead.

Anyone who placed in order with us while we have been closed over Christmas, will be contacted with an estimated shipping date. But please bare with us, our New Year hasn’t had the best start.

Anyone struggling to find Bramble.. remember to look in sheltered, wooded areas. Under 🌳🌳

Bramble can be harder to source this time of year but it is out there, it grows all year round. You’ve just got to look in the right places 🍃

Siliquofera Grandis → Giant Hooded Katydid 🍓 Sorry we haven’t posted in a while guys!! DID YOU KNOW❓ Adult Giant Hooded Katydid Females reach a whopping 14-15cm! Adult Males are smaller, but still a good 10-12cm in size. It takes 4 months for this species to reach adulthood. 2 months after maturing, the Females will start to lay eggs! Females do need substrate to lay their eggs in, ideally 10cm deep of Coco fibre or similar. A 45x45x60 enclosure is suitable for 4 adults, the bigger the better! Plenty of space & fresh food is key to success with this species or cannibalism is likely. Provide high humidity, especially for young nymphs. Food: Bramble (Blackberry bush), Eucalyptus, Oaks, Hazel, Hawthorn & Fruit. Apple & Strawberry being their favourite. 🍎 Nymphs available looking for homes 🏡💚
