I was honoured to be asked to restore this lovely Yorkstone memorial, after removing the build up of lichen which had filled most of the lettering it was then cleaned and then the epitaph was repainted. Always happy to give a quote on any of the services we offer.

Sometimes we are asked to do something unique to create a memorial for a loved one, as this was not going into a cemetery or churchyard their were no regulations to follow, making it more personal and special the family supplied the stone from their home, we can’t guarantee it won’t have faults when cut but this one was beautiful inside, not sharing it all but here are some snippets. A service we will do if possible.

Another lovely memorial once again standing tall and strong, it needed refixed to the foundation base and the head needed reffixed to the headstone base. This work was done for the local Parish council. One of the services we offer.

I don’t normally travel this far but a little road trip this week for a change was nice and the weather was good so a bonus 🥰. Also a lovely memorial has now been refixed after becoming detached from the base. I was happy to restore this beautiful headstone. Marble memorials always have the most amazing results, with a good clean the lettering was repainted, quite often marble memorials have inlaid lead lettering but this wasn’t the case this time. Sharing a lovely house sign we did earlier this year, the customer supplied the stone and chose the ‘Viking font’ also wanting it painted dark grey to match her house paintwork, it was built into the wall by her builder. A service we offer alongside our memorials and restoration work.

I was so happy to help this lovely family and clean and paint the epitaph on their family memorial, the clean gave great results but the painting was a challenge on this un polished rough slate headstone as the lettering is not uniform and has a jagged edge. Looks lovely now 🥰. A service we offer.

What is it they say ”when the sun is shining make hay” well I certainly saw lots of that today on my travels, working somewhere new and it was certainly a beautifully kept churchyard and then onto somewhere I love so when I finished I took a look inside that ancient church 🥰.

This tranquil little cemetery tucked quietly away in the countryside was our place of work today, we were happy to restore a memorial that was deemed unstable and needed a new foundation and refixed, bonus was my bait which was a treat from the boss 👍 as I’m normally just out there working with a bottle of water 🤣, feel so lucky to now have a job I absolutely love. A canny little round trip and working with the boss for a change
I was happy to clean and repaint the lettering on this lovely Yorkstone memorial, there was quite a build up of lichen which is normal after standing 11 years out in the elements. This is just one of the services we offer and always happy to give advice and a quote.

The Armstrong Memorials in Haa Hill churchyard in Rothbury are visited by many holiday makers who are interested in the story of Lord Armstrong, his family and their achievements, we at Elsdon Memorials were thrilled to be able to bring these beautiful memorials back to their former glory after they were extensively damaged but sadly 2 crosses were completely missing. The crosses were pieced back together and mended then the memorials were cleaned, some were repainted and others had their lead work restored. Pictured below are all of the before and after pictures.
We have had a break this week to recharge the batteries, this is a beautiful Memorial was cleaned and repainted last week and brings it back to its former glory, lovely to meet a family member on site too 😊

Restoring memorials in remote Northumberland. As some know my usual tools are needle, thread and sewing machine but sometimes swap them for chisels, hammers and sandpaper when doing lead work. A memorial cleaned and handcrafted lead lettering replaced. ❤️
