Working on dates for the next intermediate course which will cover loose lead walking around distractions (and outside if there’s enough light!), control in and out of the car, recall past distractions and away from other dogs, control around other people and dogs and stay with distractions 😊
Recall is something we work on in both beginner and intermediate classes. We work up to your dog being able to recall past toys, food and other dogs 🐶
Grooming and handling training is just as important as any other training. Long haired breeds especially need grooming most, if not every, day. Frequent handling means you pick up on any lumps or bumps quickly, you’re able to groom your dog easily and in a calm manner and prepare them for veterinary visits.
Dylis’ owner kindly sent me a video of her improved heel work 😍 go Dylis!
Being able to walk your dog past something they shouldn’t eat is a good skill to teach them
Eating old bits of food or poo from other animals can really upset their digestive systems
The ‘Leave It’ box has it all covered for you!

Another Canine Enrichment idea for you all!
I used bits of cardboard recycling to make a ‘snuffle box’ for Taggie. I then placed some of her normal dry food in the box along with some tasty treats for her to sniff out 🐶
⭐️ Training Tip ⭐️
As it starts getting hotter, it can be too warm to safely take your dog for a walk. Try some trick training indoors instead to keep them busy and mentally stimulated. You’ll also find that they’ll be a little tired after a training session too thanks to using their brain, a little bit like how we feel if we’ve had a ‘school day’!
Lottie’s owner saw my post about scatter feeding and fed Lottie her meal out on the grass. She loved sniffing out all her food and it kept her nice and busy but relaxed at the same time 🐶
Canine enrichment is defined as ‘anything that modifies the animal’s environment to encourage physical activity and mimic behaviours that an animal would do in the wild’
Dogs chew, it’s a natural behaviour. So encourage them to chew on something tasty and safe! Here’s Taggie busily chewing on a hairy rabbit ear, this kept her both happy and settled for over half an hour. Enriching your dog’s environment doesn’t have to be fancy. A simple chew can go a long way to breaking up the monotony of a normal day 🦴

Toilet training!
Lots of people struggle with training their dog to toilet outside. It can be really helpful to link a phrase to the act. For example, ‘go wee wees’ and reward them with a tasty treat each time alongside some fuss and praise. Remember to never punish your dog for toileting inside!

🐶 Dog enrichment 🐶
I talk a lot about dog enrichment because I believe it’s just so important to our dogs! They love being able to use their natural instincts and it keeps them busy and calm.
This Lickimat took Taggie nearly half an hour to completely finish and she loved every second of it! If you’d like to know more about dog enrichment and how to start, please message me! I’ll be sharing some more dog enrichment ideas over the next few weeks 🐶
⭐️ Training Tip ⭐️
Have fun together! The positivity and fun you put in to training is reflected in your dog and they’ll be more eager to try something new! Who doesn’t love to see a wagging tail 🐶
