Update on Benji

His bloods have improved slightly, we were given the option of him staying at the vets until Monday so he could have more fluids and monitoring or for him to come home and see how he gets on . We opted for the longer stay as we felt that gives him the best chance . He most definitely still isn’t out of the woods yet

Benji’s bill will be about £1300 plus £1200 for his previous diagnostics earlier in the week .

We have other very unwell buns and it’s an expensive week for us so we desperately need more funds

Tyler was a bit discombobulated at the vets today. It’s hard when you view the world on a wonk. He was pretty brave for his blood test and we await the results to find out if he will need a CT scan. His oain medication has been increased and he’ll continue on the Panacur until the 28days course is complete or the blood test results are back. Currently the jury is still out on the cause of his head tilt…. EC, Ear infection or both? Place your bets!

Elsie also had her post spay checkup and her wound is healing beautifully. 🐰❤️

We have had a very expensive week of vets fees with more expected to come, so we are running one of our fabulous forage Friday boxes, but this time making it festive!

The perfect festive box for anybun. 🐰

This box weighs over 1.5kg and is packed with the following;

littlehayco Timothy hay
Vine stars & baubles (balls).
Pine cones
Apple & Pear sticks
Echinacea, hibiscus and rose flowers.
Hay wreath
Linden leaves
LHC mixed forage (dandelion & plantain leaves).
Fibre sticks

Meet our newest intake, Tyler! 🐰

This little tilty boy has an appointment with the fabulous Agata tomorrow to try and find root cause of his head tilt.

Diagnostics for head tilt normally consist of blood test and a CT scan to ensure the correct treatment is given. As you can imagine this is pretty costly!

We’ll keep you updated on his journey but if you’d like to contribute towards his care it would be hugely appreciated 🥺❤️

We’ve just had a call from the vets with Benji’s blood results, sadly they are showing problems in multiple areas, he is going to be admitted to try and get him more stable, but at the moment prognosis is guarded.

***Update from vets*** Elsie is out of surgery, she had to have a slightly larger incision as there was an abscess on her right o***y (so least we know the cause of her funky white blood cell count now)! She will come home on antibiotics and hopefully will soon feel like a different bunny!

Elsie one of our ‘Sprout Legacy’ bunnies is in for her spay today.

Elsie was rescued last January having been abandoned at an assisted living facility, when the resident moved out. She had survived several weeks on a diet of carrots given to her by security before coming to Bunny Angels UK.

It’s taken this long to get Elsie stable enough to spay as in addition to being underweight, Elsie has EC. Elsie’s EC was left untreated for a long time. It has permanently damaged her kidneys and she also has Liver issues.

Today Elsie weighs 2.3kg (almost a 1/3rd more than when she arrived)!

He is a sweet boy. He is enjoying human company, being able to try new foods, and who would love a friend or two. He is currently indoors.

We rehome to RWAF standards on space (minimum 3x2x1 metres), and rabbit companionship is a must. A home check will apply.

A little update on Benji, Bonnie and Desmond

Bonnie as we suspected had tumours in her uterus and her spay was tricky , we’re getting a biopsy done so we can know the nature of the cancer and how aggressive it is . It’s really sad to see as this is totally avoidable with spaying at a much younger age .

Benji had a CT today and sadly he has a lot of problems , we’ve posted a copy of his notes in the photos of this post , we have had bloods taken and await the results of those

Desmond had a good health check today and watch this space as we’re hoping he will have some happy news to share soon

It’s a big vet today !

3 BA buns are at Rutland House today

Desmond - has had his teeth checked and his tear ducts flushed

Benji - is in for castration, but he is also showing signs of ear disease and will have a CT scan today too

Bonnie - is being spayed , which would normally be straightforward, however she is 6 years old and so we are worried about the possibility of uterine cancer

It will be an expensive day ! Please help us in any way you can

We hear so many people say they’ve had lops for years and never had any problems with ear infections- the truth is a many of these lops will have had undiagnosed ear disease and suffered years without pain relief or treatment. A rabbit savvy vet is so important as many vets fail to diagnose ear disease in rabbits

Elsie’s blood test results are back, they aren’t brilliant but have improved enough for Elsie to be spayed. This is a massive leap forward for Elsie, her spay has been booked in for the 12th November. 🐰❤️

A massive thankyou to everyone who entered the Forage Friday Fundraiser. It raised £115 which is enough to cover one of the spays. 🐰🐰 Congratulations to Clair Webb 🥳🥳
