Rear end awareness in obedience
Here’s why it’s important to teach some rear end awareness when expecting nice turns in heelwork. Peggy does a great job at demonstrating some proprioception with her rear legs making her nice and balanced.
Training can be done anywhere.
You can practise your training anywhere your house, garden or any space outside.
It gives some mental and physical exercise for your dog and provides some time for you to enjoy the bond you share or are working towards.
What a fantastic night we had last week for our Academy Christmas Party. Dogs and handlers had a blast 🎄🎄🎄🎄
This was Flying Pupstars biggest party to host and it was so much fun.
Lots more pictures and footage to share before Christmas as there is so much to get through.
It wasn’t easy for this dog and handler combo but both had a great time learning and demonstrating their leg weaves. Well done 🐾
Merry Christmas to all my human and four legged friends. We had a great time this year to celebrate Christmas with both a dog Christmas party followed the week later with a human Christmas party/meal.
The dogs had a great time at the Christmas party and behaved amazingly.
Lots of games including -
Musical numbers
Retrieve the snowman’s nose
Treat catching
Ball and spoon race
Fastest sit
Temptation Alley
Fancy Dress
Well done all the winners and see you all in the new year!
Both myself and my canine coaches are taken a break over Christmas and I will be checking messages now and again but will reply to most messages on Jan 2nd.
Thanks again for your support in 2022
Never an age limit for recall training. Starting off with fun games of recall in foundation classes to building on the impulse control in wait exercises for the more advanced recall.
So proud of these smashing their off lead heelwork with distractions on the floor and each other. Rather than sticking to the edge of the hall they did free heelwork picking their own directions etc to mimic walking with distractions in the outside world!
I love seeing the excitement of the dogs walking in each week at Naseby Village Hall. The weekly academy classes have been a lot of fun and a social for both dogs and handlers recently but they’ve all been working incredibly hard towards there progress assessments, amongst some extra games and exercises.
This last week we worked on a lot of things including working with distractions, off lead work, encouraging independence, impulse control and had a play with some of the newer class props.
Off lead recalls working a treat. Different speeds but straight to their owners, making good decisions all round. Wish I had started filming a bit earlier to show off their lovely waits too!!
We also did some scent work for the foundation dogs and in both academy classes had some fun with the new props.
Lots of socialisation and loose lead walking going on recently in the academy recently. Some of these dogs have had huge leaps of confidence since attending the sessions and it’s also thanks to the homework the handlers are putting in.
Lots of enjoyment and fun at the Flying Pupstars Academy Christmas party for my Academy classes. Fun had by dogs and handlers alike. Lots of tails wagging and laughing. We had party games, nibbles, Christmas music and lots of photo opportunities. Have a merry Christmas all my past, present and future PupStars. Xx
Well the page has been quiet but there has been plenty going on behind the scenes.
We’ve started a new foundation skills course with some sweet and gorgeous puppies. Loose lead walking and attention had seen huge improvements. This week we worked on dog legislation and scent work. The dogs loved it and the junior helpers did a great job of hiding treats.
The academy classes are also continuing to work hard in their lessons. We have increased the difficulty is some of our excerises. This week we did fun activities to incorporate lots of different obedience tasks without the dogs or the handlers really noticing and having a laugh whilst doing some up and under activities.
It’s lovely to see all the dogs enjoying their classes and to get comments on how they look forward to coming into the hall each week.
More speedy recalls and away from his doggy classmates.
Motive is 9months and easily bored. It’s rubbish weather today so we are working on our tricks. Using target work to play the buzzer game. Motive in his own time working out what he needs to do for his treat and knows it’s something to do with that buzzer (apologies for Astros jealous squeak part way through - it’s his favourite game)
