We have been beating the heat in every way possible this week! With woods walks, river walks, home visits, air lifts to avoid hot pavements, cooling vests and collars, paddling pools and even doggy ice cream! Plus of course a good blast of air con in the van between pups 😌

As grateful as I am there are so many options to keep the four leggeds happy and comfortable when the heat ramps up, I’m even more grateful it’s set to cool down a bit now 😂

1️⃣ Our new Troublesome Teens class starting on Tuesday, June 25th! This is a short course of just 4 weeks personalised and designed for the dogs in the class. We'll be working together to get through that intense teenage phase! We only have 2 spots still available (this course is only for pups who have been through Puppy School or who have previously had a 121 with myself).

2️⃣ On-Lead Community Dog Walk with Dog Owners of Toftwood & surrounding areas: This Sunday, June 2nd. 🚶‍♂️🐕 Enjoy a walk through the Neatherd Moor with fellow dog lovers and their on lead dogs. It's a great opportunity to work on your dogs focus and to build their confidence around other dogs! All dogs are welcome and more information can be found on the tagged page. This is a free event!

3️⃣ 121 Dog Training & Behaviour Consultations: Available as home visits! 🏡 Need personalised guidance for your dog? As a qualified and experiencing trainer and behaviourist I offer tailored consultations to address specific needs and behaviours.

4️⃣ We'll also have a couple more Doggie Boxes available this weekend- A selection of natural long lasting chews aimed to keep busy dogs occupied and help them to be calm. These are just £15 with free delivery in Dereham or collection from Toftwood.

I realised while out on a little adventure earlier this week that this gang would be a great example to put a spot light on the thought and planning that goes into a group walk.

So these 3 lovely’s actually all have pretty difference characters and want different things from their walks. But having gotten to know them all as individuals these needs can be perfectly balanced to create a perfect little band of pals!

Introducing the gang:

Snoop - hates the rain so as we had a little downpour going on we headed to the woods so he wouldn’t get too wet. Loves having other dogs around to watch and sniff, but likes to spend his walks trotting at my heels (jury is out as to wether that’s because he likes me or the treats in my pocket 😉)

Cub - Newest edition to the gang and can be a little nervous. So he got to pick the route, set the pace and stop and sniff as much as he wanted. This is great for confidence building and feeling a free as he can while staying on lead.

Flo - loves zooming around at top speed holding her ball. And likes her space which the two boys are happy to give her as they are a polite pair and not toy focused.

End result, three happy pups that all got to do their thing and have a lovely relaxed walk 🥰

I have plans over the next few weeks to start advertising some walking spaces to grow our Roam family 🤗 so I thought first things first, I had better do a post with a bit about me and this little business so any newcomers can see what’s up!

I started Roam around 2.5 years ago after a background working in animal sanctuary’s. My main goal has always been to be that person that you can trust will always put your littles ones needs first, make sure they are happy and healthy and do my very best to brighten and enrich their day.

I offer small social walks as well as a limited number of 1-2-1s or home visits. Whatever the service it is always going to revolve around your dog and what is best for them. I put a lot of thought into how I structure social walks to be sure the four leggeds are matched up with dogs with similar temperments and play styles. There is nothing better then getting a little band of pooches together and watching them become the best of pals!

Working closely with owners is also a big part of what I do here at Roam. I send over updates and photos after every walk and am always keen to hear about anthing that has been going on at home that might be affecting your pup in any way. Also cute dog pics of what your dogs have been up to at the weekend are always welcomed 😆

So to wrap up! If any of my existing clients have a minute to spread the word that I have space to take on a few new potential friends for your pooches then that would be amazing.

How great is this! Pact staff really are amazing for going above and beyond looking after the animals in their care.

This camp out is to raise money to refurbish the kennels, very important for making sure the little ones are as well looked after as possible while waiting for their forever homes.

Roam has just made a small donation and I am sure there are plenty more of us out there who can add a few ££ to the pot and help those doggos out! 🥰

Spent my morning at Centre Paws freshening up my dog first aid training 🙂 luckily these are not skills I’ve had to use while out and about on walks, but you never know!
