Background... My name is Ruth and I have always been passionate about animals (as well as dinosaurs, music and Christmas). I grew up in a household full of pets and animals just seemed to gravitate towards the family. At it’s height we had 5 cats, 2 dogs, a rabbit, a guinea pig, 19 hamsters (Vicky turned out to be a Victor!) and a couple of Zebra finches. My parents took in dogs that needed new ho

mes, cats from the rescue centres and somehow the birds flew in through the front door! They even nursed an injured pigeon back to health, built him a house on top of the conservatory where he lived for three years until he met a pigeon partner and moved to the willow tree in the neighbours garden to have babies. It is their unlimited kindness towards all creatures great and small that instilled the love and respect I have developed for the animal kingdom. Over the years since leaving home, I have had my own cats, a goldfish called Chips that lived to 10 and our late dog Lily. I now live on a farm near Blandford Forum with my family and the chickens. I feel I have found my forte since getting chickens and find their inquisitive characters highly amusing. So it comes to January 2020 and I find myself redundant, wondering what direction to take. But one door closes and another one opens. After caring for other people’s animals over the last ten years, as well as the experience of fostering dogs while they wait for their forever homes (something I enjoyed immensely), it is time to go down a different path, start a new adventure and turn my love of animals into a business. Thus, the creation of Paws & Claws Pet Care Dorset. I would like to provide a 1-2-1 pet sitting service, where your pets are comfortable, happy and safe as well as pet care/help where I am qualified to do so. All services are listed on the front page. A N N O U N C E M E N T 🗣️

I will be putting Paws & Claws Pantry on pause (no pun intended) for the foreseeable future. This means I will not be making any Doggy Froyos, or manufacturing baked dog treats. I will also not be making Froyos for suppliers.

There are a few reasons behind this difficult decision but I don’t wish to bore people with the legalities, so all I will say is that right now it is not possible to keep up this side of the business. It will however, give me a chance to focus on the pet sitting, which was always the primary objective for Paws & Claws Pet Care Dorset.

I would like to thank everyone for their support with Paws & Claws Pantry over the last few years and to the businesses that kindly allowed me to supply them.

D O G S and views. Today we worked on walking to heel. It doesn’t matter that it wasn’t perfect, no one is and neither are the dogs. It was just great to spend time with this girl and enjoy the views we discovered. Even if everywhere is a bit flooded 😬😆👏🏻💚🐾

There are few guarantees in life, but here is what I can promise with the Paws & Claws Pet Care Dorset service!

Your fur/feathered family will always have:

🐾 Clean food bowls. They get washed before each meal. Always have done, always will do 👍🏻

🐾 Fresh water on a daily basis. All animals should have access to fresh, clean water, it’s a basic need for good animal health 💚

🐾 A clean feeding area. Yes we all get mucky tucking into our food sometimes, but Paws & Claws will make sure these areas are cleaned daily, to avoid any upset tummies that can arise from bad bacteria 🦠

Our service is to provide the best care for your pets when we look after them. Everything above is what we would do for our own fur family and we treat your pawsome pals just like our own ☺️

T H R E E years today our Lily left us to make the journey over the rainbow bridge. Today, with the help of a miniature memorial garden was planted in Lily’s old water bowl.

The posts on Lily May be few and far between now, but I assure you she is always in our thoughts and hearts. My love for her will be forever 💚🐾

H A P P Y admin day to me! 😆

Thank you to everyone that kept me so busy during September and October with sitting, now I need to utilise November for catching up with the other side of life 😅

Today I am starting with some overdue safeguarding. Yes, I have many strings to my bow and I take the welfare of your animals and all those bright young children that hold the key to the future quite seriously. So I’m going to get the kettle on and do some work! 💚🐾

We all need a bit of reassurance in life sometimes and this worried fella was no different last night.
