A new study published in the Journal of Animal Science this week concluded there were multiple benefits for feeding fresh plant-based dog food, comparing dogs fed with lightly-cooked, human-grade food (like we make here at DoGood) with dogs fed a processed meat-based diet.

DoGood fresh plant-based food was created to help dogs live longer, healthier & happier lives.

What you feed your dog is important, but a new study suggests that when you feed them can also contribute to longevity.

Results from the Dog Aging project suggest that intermittent fasting and time-restricted feeding are associated with better health outcomes.

Tthey found that dogs fed once daily rather than more frequently had lower mean scores on a cognitive dysfunction scale, and lower odds of having gastrointestinal, dental, orthopedic, kidney/urinary, and liver/pancreas disorders.

More studies are required to confirm this, but we wondered what you thought of these results? How often do you feed your dogs?

We think ours would really struggle without breakfast AND dinner as they love their food!

Our pups have come a long way from their wolfy ancestors.

According to a new study published in Scientific Reports, puppies - but not kittens and wolf pups - tend to spontaneously imitate human actions, even when they are not rewarded with food (or toys).

Dogs and humans have had a close-knit relationship going back 20,000 - 40,000 years by the latest estimates, and this co-evolution has led to changes in behaviour and also anatomy.

While cats and wolves are carnivores, dogs are now biologically omnivorous just like us - which is no surprise, as they have been fed mainly plant-based food scraps throughout thousands of generations of co-evolution with humans.

For example, they also have 28x the gene responsible for digesting starch, meaning they are able to thrive on fresh plant-based food just like us!

It's another great day for Vegan Dog Food being shown to a mainstream audience, with a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes for our chefs to produce fresh plant-based dog food!
