Thank you so much for this glowing review Sarah! It was so great to work with you and see the progress you made with Pippin in the early months of his new life with you and Guy. I look forward to seeing you all again. 🐾

🐾Meet Chase🐾

Chase is a super handsome Staffie, living in Camberwell. He can be reactive when meeting a new dog for the first time, and so we are working through on a programme of activities to try and resolve that.

For the next month, we will avoid any interactions with unknown dogs to stop him practicing reactive behaviors and reduce cortisol (the stress related hormone) in his system. We will also focus on activities that boost positive hormones and his sense of well being. We will then work on a process of desensitisation and counter conditioning to try and change the way he feels about meeting unknown dogs.

Check back in a few months time to see how Chase is doing!

This is Archie - a 5 month old Hungarian Vizsla.
I’ve been working with Stockwell based new doggy parents Danny and Susan on proofing previous training to make it stronger and more reliable, and to get Archie walking on a loose leash. He’s been making great progress and Danny and Susan are becoming expert positive reinforcement trainers!

It can be bewildering reading the (sometimes contradictory) dog training advice that you read online. Get in touch with Sean to understand how his private 1-2-1 fully customised training sessions can help you make real progress training your dog.

Harness Or Lead: Which Is Best?

Taking the dog for a walk is one of the biggest pleasures in life and there’s nothing quite like seeing your pup out and about in the fresh air, exploring the big wide world and all it has to offer.

Meet Milo! He’s a 10 month old Cocker Spaniel based in Peckham.

I’ve been working with pet parents Charly and Poppy to get obedience training basics in place. In lesson 1, we focussed mainly on Milo’s separation anxiety, and put in a plan to change the way Milo thinks about being left alone.

In lesson 2 we got him walking nicely on a loose leash in 30 minutes! In lesson 3, we focussed mainly on the ‘leave it’ cue, and getting Milo to turn away from an object and give the handler eye contact instead.

He’s a fast learner, loves training, and has been making great progress!

Six month old Pippin is a Yorkshire Terrier cross recently rescued by Peckham based parents Guy and Sarah.

He was born into foster care and missed out on many of the early puppy socialisation experiences, and was initially very timid and anxious, particularly around strangers and other dogs.

I’ve been working with Guy and Sarah to help get him settled into his new home - it’s been great to see Pippin gradually getting more comfortable with his new world. He’s a smashing little pup!

If you’re planning to rehome a dog, ensure you have the best advice on how to get your dog settled into their new home.

Why Older Dogs Are Perfect For Adoption

When it comes to adopting animals, it’s a sad but true fact that older ladies and gentlemen are often overlooked in favour of their younger counterparts, simply because of their age.

Pavlov’s Dogs & Classical Conditioning

When it comes to dog training, there are all sorts of different methods you can try, but one of the most successful has to be the concept of classical conditioning, something that you’ve probably already tried at home with your own dogs, perhaps without even realising that this is what you were doing.

How Body Language Can Help With Dog Training

As we all know, it’s very important to make sure that training is high on the agenda when you get a new puppy, but it’s also something that should be ongoing throughout your dog’s life. The old adage that “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” certainly holds no currency and, in fact, dogs generally love learning, no matter how old they are.

Say hi to Skye, a 9 month old Wire Fox Terrier who has recently been rehomed by Camberwell based Cerys and David.
We are 2 lessons through a pack of 5, with the early lessons working on some obedience basics and also ways to reduce guarding behaviours so that Skye is happier to release items from her mouth.
We’ve got off to a super start! 🙌 If you need help getting your rehomed dog settled, get in touch with Sean today.

Meet 6 month old Whippet Puppy Albie! 🦴

Albie was having doggy meltdowns when left alone, and I’ve been working with Camberwell based parents Lorna and Josh to get Albie chilled and relaxed when he's left alone at home. They have been making great progress in changing the way Albie feels about being left alone.

Separation Anxiety is awful for those dogs who experience it, and distressing for owners too. If you need help and support in implementing a plan to resolve it, get in touch with Sean today.

Harness Or Lead: Which Is Best?

As well as giving you a wonderful chance to bond more deeply with your dog, going for walks is a great way to keep them stimulated, get some much-needed exercise and tire them out so you can relax at home later on.

But how best to keep them under control?

I’ve had the joy of working with owner David these last 4 weeks getting Dylan settled into his new Pimlico home. Dylan already has many of the obedience training basics in place, from sit, down and stay, to loose leash walking and recall.
I can’t wait to see him grow into the best boy he will be!

Meet Rufus! Rufus is a 15 month old Deerhound German Shepherd cross who was abandoned with his litter mates and ultimately rescued by Nigel from Kennington.

Nigel recently enlisted my help to provide support through the initial weeks of getting Rufus settled into his new home. Key challenges, which are not unusual for rescue dogs, are getting comfortable with traffic and territorial behaviour towards visitors at home.

It can take up to 3 months for a rescue dog to be comfortable in their new environment. If you need some guidance in smoothing the process for your rescue dog, book a free 15 minute consultation with Sean today to discuss how he can help.

How To Get The Kids Involved With Dog Training

It’s important that you establish a clear and consistent training routine for the new arrival as soon as they set paw through the door, involving your children from the outset so they can learn how to behave in a way that respects the puppy without getting in the way of their enjoyment and fun.
