Little update on Lennie (Cujo). She's now out of her biting stage and has so far she lost 2 teeth of which her forever mum Debbie has kept in little box. She has learnt to tolerate other dogs and is proving to be a dominate Alpha regardless of her size. She has been around another dog bigger than herself for a whole week with no incidents....

And so with a plan fully in place and in the knowledge that our pack would be looked after we decided that we could go on a much needed break, a break that had been planned for months. After the last 8 or so weeks we were less than mentally prepared to jump on a plane and take a break, but physically the time had taken it's toll, we were both exhausted as our lives were turned upside down as caring for Luna 24/7 was demanding....

Entering August 2023 we were now on a countdown to what was supposed to be our annual summer holiday in the 3rd & 4th week of the month. I say 'supposed to be' because with all that had preceded this month I had doubts we should go anywhere, certainly not abroad where if anything was to happen with Luna we would have difficulties getting home quickly....

Lunas return home after a week of care was the highlight of July '23 She would have to be kept away from the other dogs preferably without any excitement and restricted for much of the time to a crate to restrict her movement for at least another 2 to 4 weeks. We hastily prepared our spare room into a quiet space which would double as an office for either Yuls or myself while we watched over Luna, truth is it ended up being my office by day and a makeshift bedroom for Yuls over night to stay with Luna....

Around 6pm Thursday 13th July we had the second biggest shock of our dog keeping days... Luna was happily play fighting with mum & dad, bouncing around as 10 week old puppies do when Bear decided he was going to walk through the middle of them, it is normal and quite natural for Bella to jump at Bear licking his face madly as much as he curls his lips and lets out a few disapproving rumbles he allows Bella to do it......

Lennie continues to adapt to her forever home. Settling in nicely with her mum she has started to learn that the postman needs to be barked at and that sitting gets her a treat 🙂 Although she has not had her booster jabs, they are due in the next few weeks, she has been busy in her court, once the jabs are done she will be free to roam....

Today we took Lennie to her forever home. As sad as it is to see this little girl leave us we know her mum, Debbie, will give her undivided love and care, already known as her little princess we couldn't wish for more. Debbie has allowed us to have a page here dedicated to Lennie and has promised regular images and updates on her progression through life. The hands here holding little Lennie are those of Debbie, safe hands I would say 😉

We welcome Luna to the family. This beautiful little girl was born to our Bella on 30th April 2023. I knew there was an attachment between Luna and Yuls, this was not clear to her until we had someone come to see Luna and her sister (more on her soon) looking to give them a forever home. For Yuls, I could see, was hoping that '5 toes' as Luna was known then was not chosen by our visitors to leave us....

We asked ourselves the question: Can we have another dog ? 🙂 What a stupid question ! LOOK AT THAT FACE Yuls has had a thing going for this little girl since Bella gave birth to her. Did I notice ? Of course I did but it had to be her decision, this little girl was already special, she has 5 toes on her right back leg, one of them a random Dew Claw, something that is not so common, and will have to be removed when she is a little older....

It is with great sadness that we have to report Chico has left us. As you may know if you have read his profile on here he had been blind for a few years now and was also deaf, he had his own chair in our office which he spent the majority of his time in. We had a code, he barked and we had to work out if it meant he wanted to go out to do his business, if he wanted a drink or if he was hungry, the latter was usually the case 🙂...

I have to apologise, my last post was over 6 months ago, it was my intention was to post at least once or twice a week. I'm not going to make excuses, life has just been busy... So much to catch up on: Chico crossed the rainbow, he became ill very quickly, in just a few hours he went from being his usual noisy self to almost not responding at all, we were in the process of getting ready to take him to the vet when he suffered a seizure....

So our Tsuki, who we believed too small, just under 2 Kg, to ever have puppies, was taken to the vet for spaying. She was a star, the vets all fell in love with her. We were told not to let here jump for 2 or 3 days... You've seen the videos, there is just no stopping her, after a couple of days she was back to her usual self, and don't the others know it !!...

Going slow ! So things with the garden works have really slowed down, a combination of several things really, the prime reason is health, or should I say lack of good health on my part... The other key factor is that the new fence has not yet been put up and this image shows where we are at as of today, waiting for the guys to come and install it....

Happy puppies! After what has seemed a lifetime, section 3 of the garden nears completion. We have added close on 35 Square metres to the grass area, now we need to revitalise the brown areas where the temporary fence was. The temporary fence has been moved back, you can just see it in the bottom of this picture, this is now on the edge of section 6 which will get our attention next. As we head into June we are hoping for the weather to be on our side so we can really get stuck into it...

And we have grass... So the plan was to make this section of the garden easier to maintain and create a safe corridor for the foxes and hedgehogs. This is coming along quite nicely, we have however decided to continue the the retaining fence another 2.4 metres after considering the amount of space needed for the wildlife section. The grass seeding is taking despite the best efforts of our visiting Wood Pigeons to eat the seed....

Of late Bella has been trying to get closer to Bear... The only problem with that is Bear don't want to be close to anyone 🙂 Will she break him ? Only time will tell, but for now, even though quite close, she is keeping a 'healthy distance' !

If I could describe this part of the project in one hyphenated word... Back-Breaking What's going on ? Well we decided that this particular part of the garden was too steep so we have put in a retaining fence lowering the front at the base of it to almost that of the grass level, this should make things much easier when cutting the grass in the future....
