SERVICE DISRUPTION ‼️

We wanted to inform you that tomorrow, we are making adjustments to our routine to combat the intense heat and ensure the safety of our beloved pets and team.

Morning walks will replace afternoon strolls/K9 Day Adventures, and we will conduct home visits later in the day.

We understand that change can be challenging, but prioritising safety is paramount. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding. Stay relaxed and comfortable, both humans and pets!

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming a delightful young man to our K9 Day Adventure service.

He is enthusiastic, kind and it was a joy to see him interact with our gang.

We feel incredibly lucky to have had him join us, and we look forward to many more adventures together. Such a lovely boy—how fortunate are we!

All clients should have received their personal seasonal reminder.

Hopefully we have many nice but not stupid hot days as no one likes those (expect for a few crazy people 😉)

We will aim to keep you updated as soon as we can if we are needing to make any changes to service.

Views from my office are just the best right now!
Spring is here, signs of new beginnings.

Just remember that if taking photos with the lovely bluebells not to tread on them in the process as this can permanently damage them and destroy their growth for future springs. They are a protected flower in the UK. Keep to paths that are created to keep the beautiful carpets we see 🪻❤️

Autumn is here! Beautiful leafy backgrounds, snug coats, coffee and awesome dogs.

What more could you ask for in the ideal dog walk for the perfect insta photo…except that it’s not all as it seems and reality before the perfect photo is not all it’s cracked up to be 🙈

Here is Breezy, who is happy as a newbie to our walking services and still happy 2.5 years later.

I on the other hand may have gained a couple more wrinkles but I have also gained the trust and love of my dogs and formed wonderful relationships over the years.

When we say it’s The Pet Happiness Centre we truly mean it! It’s our goal every day, every walk.

I often get clients worried that their once playful puppy doesn’t seem as interested playing with other dogs like they use to and after a year or so they just seem happy to hang out and walk together or as they are older they would rather just keep themselves to themselves.

It’s normal and just part of the developmental stages of dogs as long as your dog is free from pain and illness which may cause them to not be as active.

Enjoy every stage as they all have something special to offer, be the voice for your dog and help them have the space they want/need.

Well that’s a wrap, we got through this warm week and managed to keep cool with lots of shade, limited physical activity and brain games instead of lots of walking.

Everyone still had a lovely time whilst keeping safe out of the sun.

Thank you to all that accommodated schedule changes and hopefully normal service can resume next week 🤞

Have a lovely weekend and keep cool.

A very important message that I see many people making the mistake with their puppies and young dogs.

Socialising your dog is really not about letting them say hi and play with every dog that they meet. That’s how we get a dog who is obsessed and pulling to every dog they see as they grow up.

Socialisation is an umbrella of things which also includes structured, positive interaction with other dog friendly dogs and being neutral around other dogs.

You want your dog to be able to go for a walk without being obsessed with other dogs and needing to say hi to them all because sometimes that might not be appropriate.

Here at The Pet Happiness Centre that’s exactly what we encourage and reward our gang for doing.

As our clients know, we don’t allow socialisation with unknown dogs as we simply can’t be sure of their temperament. However, our little groups which are created with size, temperament and play style in mind are their social/play group.

We work on walking on past other dogs and people that we don’t know and teach that there is a time for play and also a time for just walking calmly beside each other.

Structure doesn’t mean no fun, it means a calm and happy group who know what’s happening when.

All the dogs seem to be really into the blackberries right now which tells us they are lovely and ripe.

Our crew only seem to start eating them when they are the ripest and the dogs great sense of smell makes them great at selecting the best ones.

Here is a little clip of Ted, gently selecting his treats ❤️

What does a dog walker do when she’s not walking dogs, talking about animals or photographing animals…..?

She’s drawing them!

Obsessed? 🤔 I like to think of it more as a keen interest 😂

Hope you are all getting to enjoy a little bit of what you love this weekend.

A message for new clients who will be having their first summer service with us and a timely reminder to everyone else.

As the warm weather approaches we must be mindful of how we ‘walk’ dogs.

Getting a dog out doesn’t have to mean long walks, it can simply be enough to park somewhere shady and go under a nearby trees to have a sniff, toilet and some brain games for a short while.

Pack a frozen kong or favourite brain game activity and a blanket, find a nice hang out place spot and just be together can be a lovely alternative to a walk when it’s hot.

Massive shout out to this boy!

I’m so very proud of him and how hard both him and mum have worked along side our colleague trainer Carine at Carine Canine Coaching to work on his resource guarding and reactivity.

Walks are once again becoming a little more relaxing with him and he is having so much fun with training activities. To him it’s just one big game of eye contact, recall, drop and treats.

Working through issues takes times, patience, love, tears and treats but it will make you and your dog much happier and isn’t that what we all want!

Gold stars to this boy ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

THROW BACK:

The best thing about taking on puppies is the pure joy you get watching them grow up into wonderful adult dogs.

This little one has been with us 3 years now and this photo taken 3 years ago when we started puppy visits at home before he joined us in group walks when he was old enough.

During the difficult time of lockdowns and Covid, this boy brought smiles to our faces everyday ❤️

Cute then, cute now, cute always!

That’s a cold and icy week wrapped up and heading into last week before Christmas 2022 (didn’t that come around fast!)

We’ve got a lovely collection of photos from this week’s snowy scene and the dogs have loved it, we hope you enjoy viewing them.

Let us take this opportunity to wish all our clients a Merry Christmas. Whatever you are doing we hope it’s filled with things that bring you joy 🎄

The snow can be lots of fun for many dogs and their humans alike but also presents some hazards.

If you’re having fun in the snow by cautious of hazards that may be under the snow which you can no longer see such as broken glass on pavements and slips and skids where icy.

Also keep dogs away from frozen lakes and watch for signs of your pup becoming too cold such as shivering, reluctant to walk and vocalising.

We have no plans to cancel any walks as it stands but will continue to monitor things throughout the week.

Depending on the dogs we may cut walks a little shorter if they need/want it. We want the dogs to stay safe and happy 😊

If you do have coats for the dogs, please do leave them out for us to use and make sure your dog has somewhere warm to rest once dropped home.

Take care out and about on the roads and in parks and enjoy some festive fun.

Many of you will know how I go on about these coats from Equafleece but they really are the best way to keep your dog warm and dry on winter walkies.

When measured correctly you get a wonderful fit which allows full range of movement without restriction that many other coats don’t give. They can also last years when looked after making them fantastic value for money.

Additionally they wash and dry so quickly, by the time it’s out of the washing machine it’s 90% dry!!

Added bonus is the team are so lovely and helpful if you are unsure on anything from sizing to style.

Oh and no I don’t get commission 😉

🤎 Happy Friday! 🤎 we have had lots of amazing feedback from customers who have found their Equafleece a HUGE help whilst holding off turning their heating on this winter! Have you got yours? 🐶🐾

08/08/2022

Once again this week is set to be a hot one, particularly towards the end of the week.

Therefore the decision has been made to cancel all walks and Day Adventures Thursday and Friday with home visits being offered for those alone.

For the rest of the week it will likely be a see how we go and base our decisions on a day by day or even hour by hour evaluation.

We know there has been a lot of changes/cancellations since June when this hot weather started and we do appreciate your patience.

We know that you understand we are always doing what is best for your dog which is at the heart of what we do.

Role on autumn/winter where there will be long, playful romps out and about but until then do as our Flo…keep cool, keep safe 😊
