We haven't been very active on social media as most of our hand reared birds are sold through our pet shop, Newport Pets. But over the last few months we have been hand rearing few different types of parrots as you can see on the following pictures. And there is more to come as we are expecting some more Green Cheek Conure babies to hatch this autumn. Fingers crossed we are also going to see African Grey and Caique have a success this winter.

The first two pairs of Conures are now returning back from holiday and moving into their breeding cage. They had a well deserved break for almost 8 months in a large aviary with lots of toys and other conures. They will hopefully produce some beautiful babies as they did last season.

Some of the Parrotlets are still on holiday but we have noticed one pair is a bit naughty. They go into the quail box on the floor, when no one is watching. I guess they are practising before moving back into the breeding cage :)

It took the Budgies only couple of days to settle into their new aviary, which they share with some quails and diamond doves. We are expecting to hear some Budgie baby chirping in the next few days.

The rest of the birds and small animals are all doing very well. The African Grey pair, we keep in our home at the moment, have started to speak Icelandic so they must be happy where they are at the moment :)

The picture attached was taken last night. It shows Pippin, our sons silly tame boy we are caring for at the moment, and 'the Girl' having a chat for the first time since they were hand reared together last year

Holidays over and breeding season started

This lot of Cockatiels have been enjoying shorter days for the last 6 months. Being fed on superior feed, including fruits and vegetable and some supplements, they are now ready for the breeding season. If everything goes as planned, we should have some hand reared and silly tame babies around Xmas time.

There has been a lot going on over the last few weeks with our birds.

Pair of African Greys is settling in nicely.

We made new 'holiday' aviaries for our breeding pairs where they can relax, play, mingle with other pairs of same species and build up for next breeding season. The aviaries are now been tested with Conures, Parrotlets and Lovebirds, which all seem to like it :)

The Cockatiels moved into a new and larger aviary and should be ready to start their new breeding season next month.

Some of our young Parrotlets are getting old enough to start breeding. And the Bourkes, Ringnecks and Red Collared Lorikeets are going into breeding cages soon.

Coco, our African Grey in the pictures, has been very good in accepting all those different birds we are hand rearing. She's been helping in training them, or so she thinks, by teaching them to stay off her swings, ropes and toys. It's hers :)
This morning she was a bit confused as she realised there are some new birds in the house making noise she recognises. Those birds are our new African Grey pair that are settling in nicely. Although they wake us up 5am each morning by whistling and chatting, they are adorable. But as Coco is the only Grey in the household (or so she thinks) they might soon have to move into the aviary. It's what they are used to and were they will feel save. And I'm sure Coco is going to be happy knowing she's still the queen of the castle :)

The wait is finally over :)
Couple of our new Parrotlet pairs have decided they are now ready to lay their first clutch and one pair has hatched 3 beautiful babies. Hopefully they will stand up to the job of parenting.

Update.
Beautiful mutations of hand tame Parrotlets are expected to be available later this week and the silly tame in approx 2-3 weeks time.
Lovebird babies are doing well and will be ready in few weeks time.
Cockatiels are starting to hatch so hopefully we are going to have some silly tame Cockatiel babies in April.
Conures are still on eggs and if everything goes well, silly tame Conure babies should be ready in April/May.
