Elouise Marie Burke-Foulkes 'Elsie' arrived safely on Easter Sunday and has made our family complete. She was riding before she was even born and I'm sure she'll have the same love for animals as I do.

Thank you to all my clients for the well wishes.

I am still enjoying maternity leave but will be back to work with regular clients and taking on new clients soon.

What weekends are made for.
Its been so nice enjoying the warmer weather and watching these to develop a bond.

We where here as ground support and to help this amazing little rider get his confidence back after having a fair few set backs than most of us fanatic Equine fans.

And just look, here he is trotting unaided and without me running at the side of his beautiful pony Star.

He's an amazing little rider and I can't wait to see the journey these two have in front of them.

Massive thanks to the gentle giant Gizmo for setting such a good example Star. Both Star and Gizmo are owned by Lynn Mcintosh

A day in the life of a groom.

Started of with a wet and miserable day at the office and got surprised with this beautiful scenery.

Mucked out, fed and watered, exercised, double rugged, skipped out, kick blots checked.

The country lane to this office was completely snowed in by the time I had finished and I spent a good two and half hours making friends of other stranded car owners.

Note to self, buy a 4 wheel drive!

Positive note, what a community feeling, everyone pulled together and I'm now home and warm and the horse and tucked up nice and cosy.

(I have/will contacted all clients booked in tomorrow)

Stay safe people, if your finding it slippy, your horse will to.

Are some horses just bad?

I'm often confronted with "he's just a bad horse"

I often find that the horse has become frustrated over time and isn't being understood. Leading to a behaviour that is most likely learnt and received results in evading the instructions altogether.

This is often displayed as napping, aggression, refusing and can lead to a dangerous horse.

If you would like help with your 'bad horse', please get in touch and let's get your good horse back for you.

Motorway riding.

This boy has never been a fan of large vehicles (buses or trucks).
He got half way over the bridge before realising the traffic under him. (Massive fit, a stomp and refusing to move forward)

A little patience and reassurance and he took it in his stride. This is him on the way back, different horse.

I believe tackling fears and insecurities head on with positive reinforcement goes a long way.

Obsessed with Cows

We tagged teamed up with Franny Beedie and completed a lovely endurance ride.
We like to show the horses as many new things as possible and love expanding and building on their education.

Jasper is a flighty horse and it had been a while since he'd been on an endurance ride, he was such a good boy with only a few flighty moments.

Meet Narla, she is a new horse I'll be working with and she's is absolutely Beautiful.

Narla is apparently a pain to catch in the field. We did some standing and following work to get to know eachother and she was perfect.

I can't wait to do more with this beauty.

It's like riding a bike.
This rider hasn't ridden since she was 8, her first time back riding in over 13 years.

I assessed her riding with a gentle warm up and tailored it to focused on feeling the rhythm in the trot and lightly sitting back down as she was confident in her walking gait. Jasper was put on a lunge line so the rider could focus Purely on trotting without having to steady Jasper. He wasn't feeling the weather.

How lucky am I to be able to build this riders confidence and be a part of her riding journey.

First time on a horse, learning rider position, how to turn and lots of starting with Jasper. (Cheeky boy decides when he's done)
The smiling says it all.
Another happy horse rider in the making.

He isn't a novice horse but he was on his best behavior here.

Always know the horse your working with to allow you to get the most from your first time rider.

My favourite thing in the world is to watch confidence grow.

Taking someone who is anxious and has a fear for horses and watching that disappear.

Everyone who has a love for horses remembers the first time they climbed up into that saddle, learning how to sit gently and to hold the reins quietly, learning that controling a horse is not by commanding and tugging on the mouth but to understand the respect and trust these animals have for us in allowing us to sit on them in the first place
