It’s day 7 and the broccoli is beginning to green up. It’s edible now, but I’ll give it a few more days to grow a slightly bigger leaf.
Now they are all fully ‘stretched’ they have all the height they need.
We put them in a sunny, warm spot. In the summer the next stage will take 2-3 days. At this time of year it will take longer. Just keep them in as bright a place as possible and they will green up.
If you want to speed them up, 12 hours under a full spectrum led light will do that.

Usually the grow room is kept a little warmer, but for the grow along I have left it to the normal household fluctuations.
This creates a more accurate experience for those who are following along the series and growing on the same days.

Here is the step by step video of how I sowed the seeds on day 1.
We prepare the coir by rehydrating it. I recommend 2 coir discs to 2 full spray bottles, about 60ml of water.
For the seeds, you need half the packet each time you sow, all our seed packets are weighed out to be right for 2 grow cycles.
For the weight, you can use whatever you have to hand so long as it isn’t too heavy! You just want to ensure contact with the soil and to tell the seed where to push its root.
Then put it in the dark for 3 days, giving it a spray if the seeds are drying out.
