Please please please, be careful when taking your dogs out in this good weather. I’ve seen so many people walking their dogs in 25+ degree heat, it’s really not worth the risk 🔥

🚨 Heatstroke in dogs is preventable – and it’s your legal responsibility.

New analysis from LAGECDogs confirms that under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, anyone caring for a dog must take reasonable steps to prevent heat-related illness.

Did you know?

👉 Up to 70% of cases are caused by exercising dogs in warm weather
👉 Around 30% happen when dogs are confined in hot spaces (like cars, conservatories, or poorly ventilated kennels)

🚫 Flat-faced and thick-coated breeds are at much higher risk, including:

• Chow Chows – 16.6x more likely than Labradors
• English Bulldogs – 14x more likely
• French Bulldogs – 6.5x more likely

⚠️ Risk is even higher for older, overweight, or breathing-impaired dogs.

👥 This applies to:

Dog guardians, walkers, sitters, daycare providers, home boarders, kennel staff, and trainers — anyone responsible for a dog in hot weather.
