Hello Everyone, my name is Lucia and I am the founder of The Uptown Dog!
From a young age, I have been an animal lover and hold fond memories of my childhood being told off and to leave the family dog alone. At a young age, you don’t realise dogs need sleep and space - but I just wanted to play and cuddle all the time! From then, i am renowned in my social circles as the one who loves dogs, posts pictures of dogs and has a whole camera roll full of pictures with dogs. Three years ago, my sister got Coco the Bichon Frise - an absolute gem of a dog and of course, instantly fell in love. One year later, me and my boyfriend Gareth got Ivy our Cavapoochon - the best addition to our family and honestly couldn’t imagine our lives without her. Naturally, her and Coco are best friends, and we love hanging out with both of them and giving them the best days out and the occasional spoiling! From then, after being Cabin Crew for 8 years, I decided it was time to invest time and do some soul searching into a different career. After some thought and extensive research I decided to invest money into learning again, and decided to go to college and do my Level 2 & 3 City & Guilds course in dog grooming. Nervous on my first day, i was thrown into the deep end and did my first groom on a lovely cockerpoo named Isla - I instantly loved it, and knew it was the career path for me. I learnt so much during my time at the D-O-G Grooming Studio, and they fill you with tons of confidence, so you leave feeling you can take over your fears and do an amazing job. Since then, I have learnt a great deal and continue to learn. I’m fascinated by the dog world but also wanted to apply my knowledge to my own dog so she continues to strive herself and I know how to deal with any situation and what signs to look out for health wise.
I have now qualified with a Merit for my Level 3 Diploma and have started up The Uptown Dog to continue my passion. There is nothing more satisfying than spending your day with dogs and getting copious amounts of love and cuddles! It truly is the best job in the world! I have groomed a whole range of dogs, breeds and coat types, ranging from standard cuts to breed standard. I am evolving and growing as a groomer and continue to strive, learn and grow.
