Today we had a further 1-2-1 progression training session with young springer spaniel Huey ‘the Hurricane’. 😍
His guardians Dave and Janine have practised the lessons learned from previous training sessions and it shows 😊👏
We were able to work amongst distractions ensuring that Huey practised some basic foundation skills of engagement at the start to get him focused and connected. We had fun using the whistle for recall and stop whistle for steadiness. We used the turn whistle for Searching/hunting up tennis balls in long grass which is Huey’s favourite thing to do🎾 😍
Well done team Huey keep up the good work. 😊

Had a lovely day trailing yesterday. Good solid ground under foot (difficult to find at the moment!) and only one rain shower! Teams worked well dealing with contamination and aged v fresh trails in the school grounds as the day went on - doing shorter technical trails - low/high finds, doors, gates, vehicle finds, and railway crossings and river crossings over the footbridge added to the mix.

Young springer spaniel Huey (the hurricane! 😆) came for his third training session today with his guardians Dave and Janine. They’ve been working hard on his recall and steadiness on the place board and it shows as he’s coming along fabulously.
Today we practised heel work and loose lead walking which can be tricky for spaniels in particular, but Huey made great progress. 😍👏

Today we introduced two new teams to the addictive sport of mantrailing.
Sue, with Briar the 10 month old springer spaniel and Kay, with Star her young deaf rescue collie both had fun finding their trail layers and getting their rewards. Briar loved frankfurters and soft cheese whereas Star loved her cuddles and fuss 👏😊

Our main aim is to take in neglected or abused animals. We then nurse them back to health, rehabilitate and then find a loving, permanent home for each and every one.

Mantrailing: here’s a good example of a handler using a tree to slow her dog down whilst trailing - feeding the line round the tree and picking it up on the other side to continue, without letting go of the line - nice work! 👏

FOUND! 😊
Pip was found this evening about 7.30pm about 2 miles from where she went missing. She's a little on the thin side but otherwise in good health and overjoyed to be back with her owner. Thank you everyone for reporting your sightings of her and keeping an eye out

UPDATE UPDATE Friday 30 June
Approx 8pm today 30 June we think Pip was spotted on the A590 Newby Bridge near the round-about - postcode LA12 8ND near the garage - still missing :-(
If anyone gets a possible sighting please PHONE if possible ASAP (numbers below) as well as commenting on fb - sooner we can get there the better - thanks everyone for looking out for Pip. :-)

Yesterday was a day of two halves - wet in the morning ☔️and a sunny afternoon 🌤️
Kep returned to trailing after a few months off - after a slow start on his first trail he soon got right back on it 😊
Yan was firing on all cylinders and completed his first aged urban trail on tarmac without any problem.
Angus is going from strength to strength maintaining focus on the trail from scent article start.
Hawk was encouraged to use his nose right to the end of the trail using the camo net to have the misper well hidden - great to watch 🙂
Foster was given the challenge of a misper in a vehicle - took him a while but got there in the end and did a great urban scent article start on tarmac.
Vetta worked steadily and methodically as always and made light work of a walking and a vehicle find.
Young Corri is an absolute delight to watch - her enthusiasm and drive is second to none and it’s clear to see she absolutely loves the game although she wasn’t too keen on the flooring under her paws in the hall.
Tam on top form also making light of walking finds.
