We strive to provide an enjoyable experience for your dog, hoping that they will look forward to visiting us again for their next groom! We only work with one dog/households' dogs at any one time, meaning that they have our full attention throughout their stay with us. visit! Jennie(groomer at Stinky Beasts): 'I have over 15 years experience working with dogs; my background is in rescue, training and behaviour, and because of my history a big part of what I wish to offer when grooming dogs is a positive feeling around all procedures involved in grooming. I would always rather take a little longer making your dog comfortable and giving them regular breaks, along with using lots of rewards (a combination of voice, food and toys) to make the experience as good as possible. I am also always happy to give advice on making the maintenance grooming you do at home easier if your dog doesn't enjoy being brushed/handled.'

Although we are happy to groom your dog into the standard style for its breed, we also understand that sometimes it is better for both you and your dog to groom them into a style which is easier for you to maintain between grooms. We are always happy to discuss styling and find a way to offer both a good look and something practical for your lifestyle.

It is HOT, and it looks to be staying that way at least for the next week. I will be keeping my grooming area as cool as possible, however I will be making a judgement on a day to day basis, and will contact you accordingly if I feel appointments need to be rescheduled. If you are concerned about the temperature either for your dog to be groomed or travelling to us please get in touch! Your dogs welfare is always the most important thing!

Due to the extreme heat I have cancelled all appointments for today and tomorrow; this is for your dogs welfare - let's all stay home in the cool! I messaged everybody effected by this on Friday, if you have not yet replied to my messages or for some reason not received anything please get in touch to rearrange your appointment.

A useful article, if you don't want to read the full article I have copied an extract of tips to follow:

Vets’ top tips
-Make sure all pets always have access to fresh water to drink, adequate ventilation and shade from direct sunlight at all times. This includes birds in cages or aviaries and rabbits in hutches. Provide extra shade to guinea pigs by covering the top of wire mesh runs with damp towels.
-Don’t exercise dogs in the hottest parts of the day: especially older dogs, overweight dogs, flat-faced breeds or dogs that you know have heart or lung problems. Stick to early morning or late evening walks.
-Do the five-second tarmac test before taking a dog out for a walk; if it feels too hot for you, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.
-Never leave dogs in vehicles. If you see a dog in distress inside a hot car, call 999.
-Watch out for early signs of heatstroke, such as heavy panting, drooling, restlessness, bright red or very pale gums, and lack of coordination. Signs of heatstroke in rabbits include drooling, salivating, lethargy, short and shallow breaths, red and warm ears, wet nose and seizures.
-If heatstroke or any other heat-related condition is suspected, take your pets to a cool, well-ventilated place, give it small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water to drink, and pour room-temperature water over it to cool it down. Seek immediate advice from your vet.
-Spare a thought for wild animals. Keep out bowls of water for wildlife such as birds and hedgehogs.

As Red and Amber extreme heat warnings are announced across the UK, vets issue urgent advice on keeping pets safe from heat-related illnesses.
