🚨 We’re looking for a Product Review participant!

We’re delighted to have ECOnourish as an advertiser with Fancy Fowl, and we’re looking for someone in the UK to take part in a product review of their live insect feed!

We all know how much our birds love creepy crawlies! This would simply involve you being sent a free delivery of larvae to last 7 days, and in turn you writing-up ✍️ what you and your birds 🐔 thought of the product!

We lost Usain today 💔 Absolutely gutted, will miss our dinosaur 🦖

We already thought she had gone once before when she went missing in the hay bale stack for 18 days, living off her secret nest of eggs to survive but she’s finally used up her 9 lives. Not bad for an 8 year old chicken with memory problems, scissorbeak, half a tongue and what seemed to be only one functional nostril and still managing to appoint herself as top of the pecking order 😅 So I think she’s done pretty well for herself 🐔

Has anyone noticed some memory problems with their chickens as they start getting older?

Usain is 7 and has started forgetting to go in at night until she is prompted and then will instantly run into the coop. She also seems to struggle remembering to go inside when it’s really cold and is no longer moving out of the way for vehicles 😬😫

She’s still pretty happy and super speedy (as always) but is really looking and acting her age these days

This month’s subscription delivery of .superfood live black soldier fly unintentionally turned into a mud activity with all the rain that we’ve been having 😂

The chickens really enjoy scratching in the mud, especially when it involves treats high in protein, calcium, healthy fatty acids, fibre and antioxidants (actually that part is probably more of a bonus for me knowing my chickens are getting their nutrition in, but they absolutely devoured them so I like to think that they enjoy the health benefits as well as the snack 🐔)

Perfect enrichment activity for sad, moulting hens ❤️

The first pic is before she went missing for 18 days and was actually stuck in a huge pile of round hay bales and had gotten stuck in hay bale netting, eating her secret nest of eggs to keep her going. Surviver 💪🏻

Think we may need to trim her beak soon if it keeps growing, she’s got scissor beak and she’s usually pretty good at keeping it down but she’s been feeling rough with her moult this year 🐔

And our runs are finally empty 🐔 sold the last of our chickens this week and all the permanent residents are free ranging, no broody hens or angry cockerels in the run for once as well 😂

Bertha always comes back with a nice orange tint after changing her feathers, she likes to end the her feather season with a very bleached blonde so it’s always a surprise seeing her this colour 😂

Really sad that we lost Chill Dude yesterday, one of our favourites 💔 I just feel she has been one of the the weirdest chickens I have ever owned and her ability to breed an exact replica of herself (swipe right) would amaze me every single time. She didn’t ever have a chick that didn’t look like her exact tiny replica 😂 We never kept one because we didn’t want to seem like we were replacing Chill Dude and end up jinxing something but now I regret 😫
