Tis the season for these sticky seed things 😅

I was able to safely remove them all without cutting or damaging his coat (so many had attached themselves all over Buster after a good rummage in the fields lol)

Buster also had a thorough shampoo bath and a nice smooth trim all over and looks really smart 🥰

Bank holiday weekend is upon us 🙌 and Koko is giving us her best bank holiday smile 🩶

Beautiful Koko visited me for a groom. Her coat type needs regular bathing and de shedding. Koko is quite frightened of the dryer, so I’ve advised frequent appointments with gentle introductions to the dryer should help her build confidence

Will take this moment to add as from 1st September I will be on my holidays and back week commencing 16th September

There are only a handful of appointments left for September

Let’s talk about nails for a moment 👀💅…..

Hope visited me for a groom recently and as you can see she had extremely overgrown nails

When nails aren’t cut, they grow and grow. When nails grow like this and get so long, they push back into the foot which as you can imagine, would have been agonising. If this had been left, Hope’s feet would have started to become deformed

Hope’s nails had started to curl outwards to accommodate the pressure whenever she stood/walked. When nails aren’t cut regularly, the quick grows long with the nail too. The ‘quick’ is groomer speak for the blood vessel dogs have in their nails. The longer the quick, the less nail we are able to cut off, otherwise you cut into the blood vessel, which obviously hurts the dog and bleeds. Regular nail trims keep the quick short and allows us to trim off as much as we can.

Luckily for Hope, her quick hadn’t grown out with the nails, so I was able to cut them back a fair bit.

Nails should be trimmed every 6 weeks or so. Entirely depends on how active your dog is, (if fairly active then nails should be trimmed by the environment from walking etc) but all dogs are different and nail growth speed will differ between each dog

A very satisfying nail trim and Hope felt visibly more happy and comfortable 😌

Micky struggles with parts of the groom however showing him patience and working at his pace we got through it together 🫶
Post groom and waiting for mum to collect Micky snuggled into my lap 🥹 he was over it and needed cuddles 🥰 lol bless him

How a dog grooming appointment should go ☝️😌 Maltese pups Sheldon & Woody have been visiting me for the past 7 months now every month. Maltese pups have very high maintenance coats so a monthly visit is necessary to keep them knot free and happy They are both very used to me now and our routine. Sheldon being the eldest goes first. I like to have the elders go first because it lets the younger siblings watch what goes on and as Sheldon is such a good boy for his grooming he leads a very good example to his baby brother Woody Both boys are really well behaved for me and cooperative which is so important to achieve a nice style for them. I always make sure I interact with them during their groom and give positive feedback and praise. Your doggies groomer should be an important person in their life as grooming is a very trusting and bonding relationship we have with your pet 💛✂️ Look at how calm and cooperative they are when I scissor their faces 😍 just amazing. 🌈The hardest part of being a dog groomer is saying goodbye. Misty was my hero. I was lucky to be her groomer for her last 2 years and she taught me so much. She was a rescue and had an abusive past. Misty showed us what forgiveness to a species that previously abused her looks like. Like I said, my hero. I will never forget Misty, I trust that she is running around up there pain free 🌈🐾🪽

When the affection is mutual 🩷 I have been grooming Chi Chi for 3 years now and we have a really lovely bond. Chi and I will often pause like this during her appointment for no other reason than to just be sweet to each other. And I just love that 🥹
