This evening we said goodbye to Gary.
Blood test revealed Liver and Kidney failure after he appeared "off" on Wednesday.
He had so many people around him over the last 2.5 years who loved him. He was such a character and yet so quiet. My boys took him in and gave him everything he could ever want, which wasn't a lot really. All he ever wanted was good grub and a cuddle. I've obviously been in contact with the boys in Australia ( they left on the 11th Aug for a year travelling) and we all came to the same decision if the bloods came back not good.
I held him tightly when he left us earlier to join Roxy and inca ❤💜💙
R.I.P Gary, you were definitely very special, even when you tried to eat your own p**p !!

Sam enjoying the misters under the trees this afternoon. The rest of the herd had cleared off to do some hedge picking!

One set of mesh ears with fringe, one field safe headcollar a bunch of cord and an industrial sewing machine has made Sam's all new bespoke fly mask !!!
I noticed his spacial awareness wasn't really there with his full face black mesh mask, so we have made him up something more suitable for him.

I found this of Archie from back in May, he hadn't been with us long, I think he styled it out, quite well 😂

My story

Great Dunton Farm has been an established livery yard for the last 14 years. We are based in the Kent countryside just outside the M25.

I started using a track system for my own horses many years ago, the health benefits outweighed anything else I’d done in the past, I didn’t have the worry of moving fields, weight concerns, laminitis worries or riding a rocket straight from the stable. Everything seemed so much calmer. Liveries soon joined me the track as they could see the benefits my horses were experiencing.

Now I only offer track livery, helping horses transition to barefoot. We have typical curvy native ponies which thrive on the track as well as horses that have been allowed to get rather to curvy & voluptuous through no fault of their owners but purely down to the environment that was on offer before they found me. As we are a grass track the English weather dictates when we come off the tracks & start grazing the paddocks within the tracks. Hay is offered all year around.

We are a Geldings only track with a small herd of 12, we have tried a mixed herd and it just doesn’t work for us. The horses safety is far more important. We have a 20/40 rubber sand school and off road farm hacking with T.R.O.T on our our doorstep as an extra option. Every horse does have their own stable in the event of an emergency.
