🗓️ is just a few days away on July 14th! But with this current intense heatwave, keeping your dog close is a massive win for their welfare right now.

⏰ Time it right: Stick to early mornings or late evenings when it's cooler & stick to the shade.

🌡️ The 5-Second Test: If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws! 🐾🔥

🐾 Ditch the walk? If it's simply too hot, skip the walk entirely & try some indoor brain games, frozen treats, or a cool mat instead.

March 20th is Dogs in Yellow Day 💛

This day helps spread the word about dogs (or their owners) wearing yellow to indicate space is needed.

A few Reasons Dogs May Wear Yellow: -
💛Dogs that are Nervous/Anxious around other dogs, people, children possibly due to past trauma or abuse.

💛Older dogs not wanting to be jumped on by more youthful dogs bursting with energy.

💛Female dogs in season.

💛Dogs learning to be sociable, may need some distance to feel safe.

💛Dogs with new owners having recently adopted a dog may want to put their dogs in yellow until they understand the dog’s behaviour/temperament better.

💛Dogs feeling under the weather due to feeling poorly, have been injured or recovering from surgery, injury, or illness.

💛Reactive towards other dogs, people, or specific stimuli (e.g. loud noises, certain clothing, mannerism of others may trigger a reactive dog).

💛Dogs in training that don’t want distractions, i.e. learning recall on a long line.

This isn’t the only day that we should educate others about dogs in yellow needing space. But it's a day identified & highlight the cause and to spread the word. Even if you have a friendly dog please be respectful and give yellow dogs their space as you never know, one day your friendly dog may also require some space.
