INTRODUCING A BRAND NEW SERVICEā¦ā¦ GROUP ANIMAL-ASSISTED INTERVENTIONS
If anyone has met Tilly and her rabbit siblings, you will know how calming they are to pet and interact with.
Iām offering a BRAND new service aimed at SEND children and adults for some down time with Tilly, Almond, Macadamia, Pecan and Chestnut
I understand the needs SEND children and adults may have, and so wanted to fill the gap in the market to allow a safe space for all. With relaxing music, small groups, the freedom to come and go within your session, and to make friends and build a support network.
Join us in weekly sessions at St Mathews Community Centre, Stretford on Fridays. As a new service, sessions will be bi-weekly and then become weekly depending on interest. The first two sessions are the 13th September 16:00pm - 16:50pm, 17:00pm - 17:50pm and the 27th September 16:00pm - 16:50pm, 17:00pm - 17:50pm

ONE SPACE LEFT FOR TONIGHTāS BRONZE GRADE 2

Couple of spaces left for our Improvers starting next week
3rd July 18:45pm
As a trainer, there is definitely a minimum standard and expectations of dog classes however, personally, I find adult owners and dogs, are far more capable than the minimum, given the right guidance, understanding and encouragement.
I think there is a fine line between underwhelming and overwhelming, which is why I try to keep a balance between the two.
I teach in a way that is understandable and engaging, whilst challenging you and your dog. I expect much more from you and your dog than just āsit staysā or āthe perfect recallā (although these are important and something we do cover) which is why we also look at hot spots, default/automatic behaviours, breed needs and so much more.
I also LOVE to teach with games, movement and exercises to keep you and your dogs engaged. I can promise no week will be the same!
Why not try our improvers class for dogs over 6months?
Taught in a large arena (indoor or outdoor venue weather dependant) with opportunities of rest or decompression time and exercises
Our next classes are the 3rd July at 18:45pm and the 21st August at 19:45pm.
As always, 10% off exempt dogs
To end the week on a high, I want to hear something positive your pups have done this week (or last!) š¤©š¤©
Would LOVE to hear from old clients (am missing you all very much!), new clients and even people and dogs I havent met yet!
Iāll go first, many of you know, Tilly is a resource guarder and this week she voluntarily DROPPED a high value item on cue š„° Only took a few years but weāre getting there š
Lets hear yours!
This week we said big congrats to our Improvers and Grade 1 dogs
The past weeks have been filled with info and joy as we watched the dogs work
Such lovely dogs and owners ā¤ļø
Today we had two 1-1 sessions with Nellie and Storm
Nellie had her last session from the puppy package where we solidified her journey through separation anxiety.
Nellieās owners put SO much effort into training and the work has paid off big time!! We talked through how our body language can be suggestive and how we can encourage her to stay in the settle regardless of whoās moving where. Weāll be seeing more of Nellie in our scent detection sessions š¤© I think sheāll be ace!
Then we had Storm in a Tea Cup, the very busy Jack Russel.
Storm was definitely a tough nut to crack since her reactivity wasnāt clear or consistent. We talked about where her reactivity is stemming from, the science behind why her body reacts before her mind and how to bring her adrenaline levels back down again.
Storm will need a lot of work but with a super invested owner, sheās going to be (well already is!) a cracking little dog ā¤ļø
*** EDIT HES BACK!! Thank you everyone ā¤ļø***
*** edit!! Heās been seen in the garden and going to entice with food keeping fingers crossed!!***
Please keep an eye out in Wilmslow š©
Unfortunately Matty has escaped his foster home, he is neutered and chipped to the rescue.
Whilst this is upsetting mistakes happen and heās a very quick boy, heās been learning how to trust people and was in his foster home for 2 weeks so itās possible he may go back but please please keep your eyes out for him if you live near SK94BB just off lacey avenue.
Please no harsh comments weāre doing everything we can to bring him home.
Please donāt approach call or message us

Oh I do love a Tuesday Improvers class. Putting all the exercises we have been doing the past few weeks together š¤©. Next class beginning on the 3rd July at 18:45pm
šØNO NEED TO PANICšØ All āmissingā people and pets have been found safely and efficiently š Waffle and Odin have trailed before in our Scent Detection class so we advanced on their skills and Enzo, although new to trailing, absolutely nailed it! One space left for tomorrowās session in Urmston at 4:30
Today I was asked about dog body language and thought this was a great opportunity to talk through appeasement behaviours. The first tail wag was an appeasement behaviourā¦ she did not want me to approach. By ignoring these polite communication behaviours, she was pushed to her last resort which was to snap or guard the slipper. Please note, she doesnāt regard slippers as much as high value as others so there are some objects i would definitely NOT show this behaviour with Do not try this at home, this is merely a video to show you some examples of subtle dog body language and highlight the importance of understanding them and not leaving children, or others, without supervision if they can not confidently read dog body language
Week one for some of our Improvers. Week one is where we touch on fundamentals, as well making sure the dogs are happy to work in a new environment. Considering we had some extremely anxious dogs, you wouldnāt know with todayās can do attitude and hard work š¤©
ONLY MAY-JUNE COURSE LEFT WITH AVAILABILITY Have you completed your scent introduction course or 2 hour workshop? Want to learn how we tie in scent indication and trailing? Or maybe youāre a collector and want the matching rosettes and stickers (this would be meš) Book onto our next Bronze Grade One on Wednesdayās at 19:45pm for a six week course!! Dont just take my word for it āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø āSuch an amazing courseā¦the course really is tailored to each dog/handlers skills so it really is for everyoneā¦heās had such a great time and heās learnt so much, canāt wait for stage 2ā āChip has totally found his love of scentā¦ we canāt wait for the next course, Iāve found it totally interestingā āAnna is fantastic so caring and her training classes are brilliant. Itās great I have somewere to go now with my excempt dogs and it gives them something different to do and they are shattered when I get homeā
Today we had our second session with Lyra theworking cocker. Lyra need to work and please her owners is impressive, however she doesnt know how tochannel that energy or switch off. Last week, we did some in house training where we changed her associations with a few things, for example, changing the idea that chew toys shouldnāt be thrown around and her bed shouldnāt be humped! This week, we talked through steadiness andimpulse control and what better way to teach these things than gundog work! So today we did some marked retrieves and touched on blind retrieves. At the start of the session, Lyra was too distracted to even hold the dummy, but by the end she could even resist releasing herself before the release cue. Thereās still a way to go but Iām super impressed with the progress in just two sessions. Whilst I am not a gundog trainer, I do value the training and principles involved as they can be applied in most everyday life activities!
Last night in our Improvers class, we touched on loose lead walking - talking through many of the ways it can be taught. In this video weāre focusing on just one of the many ways, initially prioritising engagement and movement We also talked about āhot spotsā
Who remembers Coco the spaniel, labrador, whippet mix. A little update for you all! The past few sessions, I observed that Coco seemed uncomfortable on her back legs, which seemed to begin after a recent surgery. Her reactivity showed a pattern that started after finishing a course of pain medication from the surgery. I advised she was seen by a vet, which has now been confirmed there is discomfort and are exploring the possibility of hip dysplasia. This can contribute to reactivity and canine compulsive disorder. On our 3rd session this weekend, we looked at Canine Compulsive disorder. Reasons that cause CD, and solutions vary depending on the extent. Here we see a video of Coco reacting and tail chasing (she sometimes also fly snaps) to the TV. She is triggered by specific adverts and music however depending on current state, she could be triggered by other things. The second video shows her choosing her āplaceā and engaging with her preferred chew instead of fixating and reacting. Note - this is not a āquick fixā, a lot of work went into keeping Coco settled during the trigger. We discussed her toy box, pointing out why some toys werenāt suitable for Cocoās behavioural needs but which are beneficial. We also discussed body language, self regulation behaviours and displacement behaviours - all which suggests Cocoās current state of mind, and allows us to predict her next behaviours and emotions. Next step - teach Coco the ātriggerā is now a cue for place and to engage with a chew. We kept all sessions within her thresholds and abilities to ensure slow and steady progress Super job Coco and Cocoās mum! See you on Tuesday for some scent detection work - a sport which Coco will massively benefit from!
Due to the weather, tonights improvers and scent classes are cancelled. Whilst we do train indoors, we do not want to risk driving in potentially dangerous conditions. Both courses will start from week one next Tuesday instead. I will get in contact with everybody individually shortly. We apologise for any inconvenience and hope people understand. Tomorrowās puppy classes will continue until further notice
Happy 8th birthday to my best friend and sole face of the business (although something tells me she doesnāt help with the accounts, bookings, class plans, advertising etcš.) The perfect little demo dog and fantastic at trailing and her scent detection work Love you Tillydog ā¤ļø
How young is too young? You can never be too young! At the beginning of the session, Koby was too distracted to sit more than a millisecond, but by the end of the session Koby and his big brother were able to reliably do sit stays at a 3 pace distance and for 5 seconds! They know to practice by working on their 3 Dās Wonderful team Meanwhile Billie was practising hard around distractions in the background and doing a fab job with her handler
