I said there was some other exciting news we'd been sitting on too... Well now the place had been confirmed I'm super excited to announce that I'm embarking on my Level 6 in Canine Behaviour! So in 18 months, if all goes according to plan, I will officially be a Certified Animal Behaviourist (Canine)!
I'm very excited that once I've completed the course with and I will legally be a behaviourist! The industry is totally unregulated which makes things complicated, so this degree level qualification will cement my skills and also the legality to practise as a behaviourist. Currently I practise with a Level 4 (distinction) as a 'Behaviour Consultant' because legally I can't say I'm a behaviourist even though I deal with behaviour cases along side regular dog training.
This particular Level 6 is heavily focused on practical skills and application of theory and science rather than focusing just on the book side of things. Whilst all the science, theory, and book knowledge is still covered, this particular OFQUAL regulated course focuses on making sure that book knowledge is applied in ways the get results with clients from day 1 after completion. (Although I'm pretty sure we're getting results with your dogs already, I'm hoping to pick up lots of new skills, techniques and approaches to bring to all the current behaviour programmes I offer!)
The journey won't stop there... There are then more practical assessments with acrediting bodies if I chose to undertake those too afterwards! But I need to focus on getting through the course first!
I will need demo dogs galore over the next 18 months so don't be surprised if you get a message from me asking to borrow your dog! 🐾❤️🎓📚
And need I add, all the teaching on the course is going to be force free and science based? 😎
