Norman’s transformations are always my favourite! His clips are never the most perfect, he needs a lot of sedation & will absolutely let me know when he’s getting close to having enough. But the aim is purely to make him more comfortable by removing his thick, curly cushings coat.

An update on Princes long reining journey… Not only has Prince not been ridden for about 6 weeks now, we also haven’t been in the lunge pen for about 3 months, usually I long rein in the indoor arena, around the gallops or around the yard. But after Princes performance coming in from the field today I decide the lunge pen would be a safe option & stop me from being towed up the arena 😂 Safe to say he redeemed himself & is working wonderfully into my contact! It’s taken a while to get to this point but no training aids have been used and he is very voice responsive now, notice I don’t have a whip, I’m just using my voice. I offer long reining sessions but I am also able to teach you how to long rein if this is something you want to learn with your horse 🐴
A little mid week reminder 🤎 Happy horses are the perfect foundation to build and grow in every aspect. I feel sometimes that people forget that these beautiful creatures are another species & they have their own fully functioning organs and systems. We shouldn’t be demanding so much out of them, but simply asking them questions & seeing of they will work with us. They are constantly communicating with us just as we are constantly communicating with them, so listen.
This horse honestly overwhelms me on the regular with all the good emotions! 🥰 This is a horse who 9 months ago I approached with caution. He was aggressive and used to bite a lot, it was as natural for him as breathing. I couldn’t pick his feet out, groom him, rug him or even touch him without having to tie him up. Riding was pretty much out of the question. There were days I questioned what I had done taking him on, but let me tell you… it has been the most rewarding journey I have ever experienced with a horse. There’s no feeling like the trust between little 60kg me and this 600kg animal that speaks an entirely different language to me. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, TRUST, PATIENCE & CONSISTENCY are your best friend with these animals. Stay tuned for a before and after video 🐴
