Being able to visit my patients in their homes is very helpful! With the fear of the vets being removed, I can better assess their blood pressure, limp or heart murmur. Even taking blood is easier as the pets are more inclined to sit nicely with minimal restraint.

Some dogs are usually able to keep their nails trimmed by regularly exercising outside on the concrete, however, with the colder, darker weather, they may not want to go outside as much or as long as they used to, enabling their nails to grow longer than usual.
Long nails can pose a risk of injury to your pet, they could get caught and torn off which can result in veterinary care. They can also cause discomfort when walking, with the nails hitting the floor and putting pressure on the nail bed, this can cause joint discomfort as they distribute their weight to manage the pain.

In order for your pet to travel, they must have new certificates of travel for each trip. This can often require rabies vaccinations, blood tests and antiparasitic treatments, all of which must be completed by a vet to a pre-defined schedule.

Thinking of travelling to an EU country, but don't know what an AHC ( Animal Health Certificate ) is and how to apply for one? Don't worry, Calm Pawz has you covered!
In order to qualify for ACH your pets must:
🐾 Be microchipped.
🐾 Be vaccinated for rabies a minimum of 21 days prior to travel.
🐾 Be a minimum of 12 weeks old.

In April 2016, it became law that all dogs and puppies must be microchipped and registered by the age of 8 weeks.
Dogs can be microchipped at any age, but it is more comfortable for puppies when they are at least 7 or 8 weeks old.

Keeping your pets' nails trimmed is very important.
Dogs should have their nails trimmed at least once a month, with cats needing theirs clipped approximately every 2 to 4 weeks.
Most owners dread clipping their pet's nails, this causes the risk of cutting their nails too short. As a qualified vet, I can offer at-home nail trimming services. Allowing both owner and pet to remain calm in the comfort of their own home.
