I’ve been to France Germany Switzerland Italy Slovenia an Croatia. Mostly I’ve been a good boy and walked and hiked every day. I’ve just been asked not to guard the van quite so enthusiastically.

I wonder how it got half a sleeve!! Completely silly behaviour once again, I thought the sock munching days were over!! Not very safe either!! Concerned and cheesed off.

A little montage of me now I’ve been here a whole year. Mum says I’m lots of fun but relentless. I need about 4 hours of exercise a day. I scare all small furry animals away, and I’ve even caught a few 😬. The deer give me a wide birth. But I’m loud so they can here me a mile off!, the ducks and geese are very happy I don’t swim especially now they have goslings. I’m well known by many fishermen on my estate and they think I’m much more settled and braver than I was. I still follow too few rules in my house. But mum thinks I’ve done very well as I know wait, respond to a whistle, in, off and diner time. I only do snuggles in the evening and I never lick anyone and never jump up. I never counter surf but I’m partial to socks and pants and we have many odd socks now in our house. So thank you to everyone who helped me and we now have shares in kong balls as so far I’ve been through 40. The indestructible ball dad bought me f0r £13 from America lasted 4 days before I killed the squeak. I’ve cost a bomb in vets bills but I’m very much a loved part of the family so that’s helpful when mum sucks up yet another bill. The neighbour is still my number 1 nemesis and we keep trying to make friends 🙁.
Merlin is me and I’ve made a full year.

I’ve now become a real GWP. Such a big change from when I arrived, and wouldn’t leave the path or go through long grass. I’m super fast and strong will go through any undergrowth and can turn on a sixpence. I’ve caught 3 squirrels this week😬mum not so impressed. One bit me in the face too, but I’m still looking every day.

Merlin. Now trained to within an inch of his life. Note training book he read after finding it under our bed. He keeps forgetting his not allowed upstairs, not allowed to eat socks, masks and other items. It’s just soooo hard to resist. Other than these minor faults he’s a very calm obedient boy. 😂😂

We’ve now been in the kennel together for 5 weeks, mums a bit worried how I will be when I get back to cold Northumberland and she gets back to giving booster Covid jabs . Dad will still be around though, we think the travels have been quite a success and mums proud of me even though I woofed quite a bit if they did not throw the ball for more than 2 solid hours 😂. Mum thought I was a bit smelly in the kennel too. Particularly after yet another change in food. I was happy to eat all of everything as ever though. Dad liked it when I dug a huge hole in the sand ( it took an hour) and the sea came and filled it in. I was not so impressed!! I met my hooman sister Mollie surfing too and she seemed very lovely. Oh and I only fell in the swimming pool twice as my ball fell in, I was rescued though as I’m scared of water. Back soon and being a cypress boy I think I enjoyed the warm weather rather a lot.

Being in Spain and Portugal has been a real eye opener.. so many dogs barking constantly day and night. Some chained or on small balconies/ gardens. Not an owner to be seen. We are in a villa with a Garden this week and small green areas for walks. I’ve only seen us out going for a dog walk. Merlin has been attacked twice by territorial dogs guarding but off lead outside. Not an owner again to be seen. He has now decided to join in the dog chorus which is not great at night time. 😬. On saying that we’ve had some very lovely moments on the beach and mountains.

I am enjoying my holiday in the big kennel with mum and dad as we are together 24 hours a day ❤️😬. I help guard the kennel and mum says there is no need. So far we’ve been in it for 12 nights. Mum and dad had to save me 2 days ago when I stuck my head in a wasps nest. I had about 15 of them on my legs, dad thought it was best to throw me in the very cold stream whilst he brushed them off. Mum gave me medicine as she worried I may have been stung in the mouth. I shivered a lot and was very sad all night in the big kennel, non of us slept that well! . I’m better now but a bit worried when I see orange buzzy things near me. Holidays are truly a whole new experience.

Mum said I was very good at the beach as I chased and fetched my ball very nicely. I tried to drink the sea as it was thirsty work but it did not taste so good. First beach trip was a huge success

I am feeling much better and thank everyone for their get well wishes. I’m now eating lots more and mum has given me chicken, fish and turkey so that’s been good. I just need to gain weight and mum thinks I need a bath and a good comb out apparently I smell !! after the harvest mite treatment but she wants me to feel better first. I am now sporting my handsome orange moustache which now I’m nearly one shows I’m a very grown up boy.

Merlin is back at home. He is very subdued and is on quite a lot of medicine but he is looking better this afternoon and has eaten a little food and taken some fluids hopefully he will be even better tomorrow

Mums a bit worried about me so I was allowed on the bed this morning I have been a bit sick and am off my food😞. Mum thinks it might be something I’ve eaten, anyhow I am a very quiet boy and mum cooked me chicken and rice this morning but I just didn’t fancy it. Mums hoping I’ll feel better soon.

Mum says she was very disappointed I broke her phone screen, chewed herduster and her phone cover and swallowed my plastic ball whole all this happened this week. The man from the vets had to give me special medicine to make me sick. Mum said it was £230 well spent to make me better. Now as you can see from my splendid photos I’m back to my usual chilled self!!

Merlin on his first holiday. He was brilliant in the van. He loved his walks and was mostly friendly to everybody else. ( a bit testy in the evenings but it was quite hot and noisy)
