Helga found my forever home

We always try and keep positive about our journey with Heggy but if I’m honest, it’s not been the easiest. Helgas learnt behaviours have been hard to undo, she has literally hundreds and thousands of triggers for her anxiety and is super reactive if anyone who comes into the house. Of course she is better than when she first came but it’s ongoing due to whatever she went through before she was rescued by Apollo’s.

Then life happens and progress we’ve made disappears and we have to start again. Gaining a little sister and loosing her big brother has been one of those challenging times for Helga. We’ve seen her anxiety creep up, her reactivity and general worry increase. Sadly a lot of these behaviours have been targeted at the pup. It’s been hard, at times it’s felt impossible but slowly we are getting to a better place and Helga and the pup are starting to really bond.

Then. There are times like this and I know I couldn’t ever be without this sweet, loving, faithful and loyal girl. Such a sweetheart.

No matter what she throws at us we will always love her and do our best for her ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I lost my big brother today. He came from Cyprus like me but 11 years ago. Mum said he was old and had cancer, it is so sad. I didn’t want to say goodbye to him and don’t know how I’ll cope without him. But actually he hadn’t been on many walks lately and had been sleeping more and more.

He has the best life here and was loved to bits. We are all going to miss him and his calm ways.

I have no words to express the stench that this mess produced.

This was in a local green space, some uncovered drain or something disgusting. Helga thought it was fantastic right up to the point we got home and instead of heading in she was faced with the hose and a bath!!!!

She’s still not happy now she’s dried off!

Don’t be fooled. This thing has arrived and I am
Not happy. Everyone keeps saying it’s ok, it’s only a baby and giving me extra cuddles and treats. But I don’t trust it, in fact I’m very suspicious and don’t even want to look at it. Human brother is very happy and seems to have it with him all the time. The only peace I get is out for walks or bedtime. It’s very annoying and I don’t think I will ever be friends with such a silly little thing like that. My big woof brother doesn’t seem to care, he sleeps a lot now and seems not himself. Mum says he’s not well which makes me sad. Can’t believe I’ll be left with this thing on my own one day!!!!!

Not posted in a while as life ticks by just nicely for a hound that’s been in their forever home for 3.5 years! But still life throws new experiences and even though we’ve been to agricultural shows and the like, we’ve never been to a horses only show!

Heggy was so good. We sat ring side with horses and ponies whizzing by and she took it all in her stride. Even made a few canine friends.

We also had our first garden party since we rescued Heggy. Her reactiveness and anxiety stopping us from inviting more than a few people round at a time. But this weekend gone the very special girl of the house turned 13 so we had to celebrate and invited 25 people for the afternoon. Helga did so so well, only reacting once when mg uncle leaned over her to hug me. Which I think was fair game as clearly he looked like he was going to to kill me!!!!

So well done Heggy you gorgeous gorgeous girl

Don’t let a segiguo off when spring is in the air!!!

Actually we were in what is deemed a secure, safe field. But it turns out it wasn’t, a deer appeared, the deer went through a hole in the stock fencing and Heggy followed.

We then had a two hour jaunt around the mendips trying to get her to listen and come back. She was so totally in hunt mode she didn’t care about anything else.

It was a happy ending but could have been so different. So back to long line until the holes in the fence have been properly fixed
