Building 📐 a business is a bit like assembling an IKEA flat pack piece of furniture……

Instructions are difficult/impossible to understand or find!

It will take at least 3 years longer than they say!

You have to find tools 🧰 you never knew where a thing, which you most definitely don’t have to hand!

Something will always be slightly wrong!

Looks nothing like the shiny perfect one your friend has on their socials! 😩

If you could take a 🔨 hammer to it and start again you would!

All your thoughts 💭sound like a piece of the IKEA bedroom range…….

Disappointing…..

Dog people need to be able to cope with disappointment.

And here’s why…..

Not all dogs want to be stroked or touched!

Even some of the ones that are bred to look like they do.

Working with dogs almost every day it’s particularly difficult for me to be hands off with certain dogs, my natural human urge to put my hands on that cute bundle of fluff is often incredibly difficult to control and very disappointing.

BUT

I am happy with my disappointment knowing that dog has had their choices noted and wishes granted.

Even some dogs that come into your space are only doing so to gain information.

We know this isn’t all dogs but please be aware and be prepared to be disappointed!!!

If you have these things in your life you are now a 100% fully fledged DOG person/weirdo 🫣😂

COATS: 🧥
For all weathers/situations.
Rain, heavy rain,
about to rain, sun, tepid, smart/going out (with dog)
gillet/body warmer.....this is the inbetween of coat and jumper

Each will have poo bags in every pocket and will produce hundreds of the bloody things when you just need one.
These bags are only to be discovered when not needed.
When poo bag is needed (generally when you are surrounded by aprox 10,000 people and your dogs laying a brown dog egg )
the poo bag burglar would have visited and removed all from said coat pockets causing much distress!!!
However you will find an old piece of hotdog or cheese in one of them so not all is lost.....Atleast the dog gets a treat 😬

SHOES/BOOTS : 🥾
Wet weather, dry weather, tepid, damp,
smart/going out (with dog)
trainers, waterproof trainers, wellies,
good wellies, car wellies, car versions of all the above.

Vehicle or multi vehicles:🚗
One official dog one and possibly a
“the dog ain’t never getting in this one” one.......the dog ends up in both!!!
Both have seat covers, sometimes ACTUALLY on the seats. Mainly shoved in the footwell because you have given up caring about the s**t all over you AND the car!

Holidays.
“Where can we take the dog this year???”

LIFES NEW PRIORITIES..........
DOG, kids, partner, work, leisure (with dog)

And repeat for each dog that you become blessed to live with you 😁😁

Positive reinforcement isn’t slow.

It isn’t fluffy
It isn’t woke
It isn’t lame
It isn’t just chucking the dog a piece of food.

It’s a f**king super power!!!

Why?
Because it works so beautifully and honesty unlike any other method of training.

It also works immediately.
If you know what you are doing and you understand what reinforcement actually is then it works the second you start.

Those little incremental steps towards full behaviour understanding are massive happy steps.
Positive steps.
Bonding steps.
Super power steps.

The more you and your dog understand each other in a kind and positive way the bigger the bond and friendship.

To treat your best friend as just that is magical.

Each behaviour that’s sufficiently reinforced gets more and more powerful!!

Watching your best friend learning and understanding what you are asking gives YOU those proper happy chills……

Other methods don’t!!!

Being kind is rather bloody nice wouldn’t you agree???
