🎉 Marvelous Microchips 🎉

This lovely very friendly tabby madam went missing on 25/5.

Her owners were extremely worried and started searching for her immediately.

On Friday 07/06, Italian Slice, on Lea Bridge Road posted on Facebook that they had a cat in their shop after she had jumped out of a delivery van. The cat had ran into traffic on the very busy road but stopped under a bus and then ran into their shop. She was scared and hiding inside but these lovely people left her food and water so she stayed with them for four days before venturing outside and going in to a neighbouring shop.

One of our volunteers saw the post at midnight and the next morning visited the shops where the cat had been seen. Luckily one of the shop owners came out and asked what she was looking for and was delighted as he had the cat safe inside.

Our volunteer scanned her and happily found a microchip and the owner was located an hour later. This gorgeous kitty was returned home to a very happy and grateful family. 😻

With some detective work from Tee Kay’s they managed to locate the van driver who advised them that she had jumped out of the van after a delivery to the street she went missing from. So unusually we know the story of what happened. It looks like she had hidden in the van in a pile of tyres for days without food or water. 😥

Luckily on this occasion the shops had fed and watered her after she jumped out of the van, but we always advise a vet check when missing cats return.

We are really pleased that this story has a happy ending only possible because of the power of a microchip. 😸

Microchipping became UK law on 10 June 2024. Please ensure your cat is microchipped and also neutered. 🙏

Neutering cats is the only way we can solve the UK cat crisis.

The new UK microchipping legislation comes in to place for CATS on the 10th June 2024.

Did you know that owners could face a fine of £500 if their cat is found not to be microchipped?

Microchips are the best way to reunite cats with their families.

PLEASE contact your VET to arrange an appointment and if your cat isn’t NEUTERED please arrange for this to be done at the same time. 🐾🐈 🐾

Neutering is the only way we will ever get through this horrific cat crisis. It’s so upsetting to have a solution that’s not being taken advantage of.
WFCP are trying to neuter as many cats as we can as quickly as possible.

Last week we NEUTERED 7 females and 1 male. 🎉🎉🎉

All we can do is try our best but irresponsible people are still leaving their cats un-neutered to breed and then expecting our help when they can’t sell or give away the kittens!!

ALL rescues are at full capacity and completely overwhelmed by the dreadful situation and unable to take any more cats in to care.

There are not enough homes for all the cats and kittens that are waiting.

WE HAVE A CAT CRISIS IN THE UK.

PLEASE PLEASE, NEUTER YOUR CATS AND BE A RESPONSIBLE CAT OWNER.

NEUTERED CATS ARE HAPPIER AND HEALTHIER AND LIVE LONGER LIVES!!

We really do love a happy ending here at Cats Protection, and it makes it all worthwhile when we hear from adopters about how their furry friends have settled into their new homes. Here's a recent testimony from Pippa and her family, who adopted the lovely Michael and Mabel!

"We had such a caring and positive experience adopting kittens through Waltham Forest Cats Protection! Debbi, Natalie and Christine made the whole process feel really kind and well supported. They were conscientious in getting as much information as needed from us about who we are and what we were looking for, to match us up with the best kittens for our family. Then answered all our queries knowledgeably, had loads of great hints and tips and were very well organised with regards to paperwork and visits to meet us and the cats. We didn't feel any pressure to say 'yes' to the first cats we met, but they were so well matched to our family that we fell in love. Adopting the kittens has brought such joy and warmth to our home and we really appreciate everything that the team did to make it happen. The kittens seem very happy and well settled with us and thoroughly ruling the roost. Thank you Cats Protection!"

If you'd like us to help you find a cat to add to your family then please do DM us. Adoptions are at an all time low right now, despite a huge influx of cats and kittens in need of our care. We rely exclusively on volunteer fosterers and we have no more space to take in extra cats. There has never been a better time to reach out and find out what a joy it can be to take on a rescue cat!

🎉🎉🎉 A huge thank you to the amazing Helen O’Rourke who ran 13 miles in the Hackney Half Marathon on Sunday to raise much needed funds for our branch. ❤️

We really are so grateful for Helen’s hard work and also to everyone who donated. 🙏

Helen raised an amazing £530 plus £125 in gift aid, so a total of £655 which is fabulous and will go towards our huge vet bills. 😊

We are so sad but also shocked that our gorgeous kittens Jasmine & Dandelion haven’t had any interest. 😢
Their siblings Earl & Chai went off to their new home months ago. Sadly adoptions have been extremely slow recently and we urgently need to find homes for the cats we have in our care in order to make space for cats that desperately need our help. 😔
These wonderful friendly, affectionate and playful girls are now around 8 months of age and they really deserve a home of their own. 🙏
The great thing about adopting older kittens at this time of year is that they will be able to go out in a couple of months and enjoy the summer in the garden.
Please, please, if you are thinking of adding kittens to your family, please consider offering these gorgeous girls a home. You won’t regret it!! 😻

Ella is still waiting for her furever home. She is best suited to a quiet home without young children as loud noises and fast movements can scare her.
This beautiful girl is ready to start the next chapter of her life and would love a garden to explore away from busy roads once she has settled. She would be happy to share her home with other cat friendly cats. 😸
Ella loves to play and enjoys lots of fuss and is a complete purr machine.
Please contact us if you can offer Ella a space on your sofa and in your hearts. 🙏😻🙏

From stinky, dirty, hormone-driven Tom cat living life as a stray to this gorgeous hunk of purring perfection. ❤️
Gary had no idea what toys were 3 weeks ago now he just can’t stop playing. 🥰
These boys really are the best!!
Please form an orderly queue to adopt Gary!! 🙏
(Ideally quite quickly as I’m falling head over heels!)

Popeye and Princess met and fell in love at the local dog pound where they gazed at each other through the bars of a cage😻😻. Once at their foster home, Popeye (being the bravest) slowly brought Princess out of her shell and taught her to play, chase laser beams, and generally be snuggly.

Princess is still initially shy around new people but bonds quickly to anyone with a laser pen... They spend the day sleeping, playing and gazing out of the windows together and are fabulous company.

This playful pair are now looking for their forever home, having been vaccinated and neutered. Please get in contact with us if you'd like to meet them and offer them the safe and loving home that they deserve. Homecheck and adoption fee apply.

Parsley (formerly known as Mowgli) was up to no good on the streets of Walthamstow when our team were told about him and his antics. He had presumably been abandoned at some point in his life, and was roaming unneutered and fending for himself when our team picked him up. He came into our care flea-ridden with skin sores and a scabby coat, but showed our volunteers great affection straight away so was clearly comfortable around humans.

We had him treated at the vet - vaccinations, flea treatment, worming, neutering, and some light dentistry was carried out. While he was there we found out he had FIV - something he will have picked up from years spent unneutered and fighting with other unneutered toms for the limited territory available.

He then went to one of our fosterers who promptly fell in love with this gentle giant. They adopted him and renamed him Parsley (after the very friendly lion from the Herb Garden TV show). He is a very sleepy boy who has taken to his creature comforts very quickly! He absolutely loves a cuddle and will often sleep on top of his owners at night, and always comes for some lap time after meals too. Being FIV+ means he could have some complications in later life but, after a few months of TLC, his coat and sore spots have completely recovered and he is more active than when he first came into our care - he's living a very luxurious life in his new home!

All cats deserve a happy ending to their story and there are so many more that we are trying to help. We are entering kitten season now and adoptions are still slow. We are urgently seeking new homes for cats of various ages. All of our cats are neutered and vaccinated and even though some of our cats have had a difficult start to life, doesn't make them any less loveable. Please consider adopting a beautiful furry friend into your home and reach out to our team now.

Last summer, mum and her two babies were found living amongst a pile of rubbish, in the backyard of an estate agents. Mum had, at sometime, been someone’s cat as very friendly, probably thrown out when the cute kitten stage had ended, unneutured of course. Luckily for this little family there was a happy ending, Sadie has gone to live with a lovely lady, and William and Rose have found their selves a lovely home too. Unfortunately, there are not enough homes out there so PLEASE get your cats neutered, we are in the middle of a cat crisis.

Dandelion and Jasmine are the last pair of kittens from a litter looking fro their forever home. At 5 months old they are fully vaccinated and neutered, and this playful pair will make any house a home.

They have been in a steady foster home since January and their fosterer says: "Dandelion and Jasmine are super duper friendly, cuddly, and just love company and they purr a lot."

They'd be best suited to a home with access to a safe garden. Homecheck and adoption fee apply. Please get in touch if you'd like to find out more about this adorable pair.

Our gorgeous 4 month old kittens Chloe & Jasper were health-checked, vaccinated, neutered & microchipped on Thursday and are now ready to be adopted. 😻
All our kittens are neutered before going to their new homes so that we can be sure they will never breed. Depending on the vet practise you use, most vets will neuter kittens between 12 and 16 weeks which is the ideal time before they become sexually active. As you can see Chloe & Jasper have recovered very quickly. 🥰
These cuties have a potential home lined up subject to a home-check and to the adopter coming to meet them next week but we have lots more gorgeous cats and kittens waiting for their furever homes. Please message us with your phone number and email address if you are ready to open your heart and home to a new housemate(s). 🐾 😸 🐾

Welcome Ella. 😻
This gorgeous girl arrived with us last night. She is still a little nervous but managed a purr whilst eating tonight. ❤️

Claire trapped Ella back in January on behalf of WFCP as she was living on the streets with her kittens and JJ fostered her until we had a foster space available.

Unfortunately her kittens came to us too late and they weren’t socialised enough to be homed so we have found them a wonderful outdoor/stables home where they will have the option to have as much or as little human contact as they wish. 😸

Thank you to Claire for trapping and JJ for looking after them so well. 🙏

Ella is ready for adoption so if you are looking for a gorgeous young girl to join your home, please message us or email: [email protected]

Home-check and adoption fee apply.
