Sad to hear retired Essex Police Horse Patrick has passed over rainbow bridge. He was so lucky to have had a good 11-12yrs retirement at The Horse Trust. Run free Paddy 🌈🐴💗😓

We are privileged to give some of the most courageous and kind-hearted horses in the country the best retirement possible and continue to tell their stories despite them hanging up their tack. Traditionally, by the age of 16 a horse can be considered ‘geriatric’ and around 70% of horses beyond the age of 20 require some form of specialist veterinary care. The majority of our residents are coming to that time in their life that they need extra help.

Much of the care we provide is similar to that of a hospice, managing their conditions to allow these wonderful equine public servants a comfortable retirement until they are ready to leave us for their final journey across the rainbow bridge.

Sadly, during the colder months, these chronic conditions often worsen for our older residents or those suffering from more complex veterinary conditions, which is why you may notice that we lose more of our equine residents during this period. We do absolutely everything possible to manage our horses’ health conditions, but ultimately we acknowledge that there comes a time when it is in their best interest to allow them a dignified end to avoid any unnecessary suffering. We want to shine a light on each herd member we lose, giving them the recognition and kudos they deserve for a final time and to let you know as our supporters of their passing.

This month we remember Normandy, Patrick, Copenhagen, Huntsman, Harrison and Pollyanna. We miss you dearly but find solace in knowing you are pain free, and together amongst those fresh pastures over the rainbow bridge. https://horsetrust.org.uk/february-2024-dedications/ HTx

Pinch punch the first day of the month. April is here and we are crying out for some☀️ 🙏🏻!

RPD Rusty paid a visit to Hatton Garden, the scene of one of the most daring multimillion pound robberies of all time where a group of ‘old timers’ went on a daring ‘one last job’ raid which resulted in cash and jewellery being stolen.

Rusty retired in 2021 after a distinguished career as a fi****ms cash and drugs search dog recovering piles of cash used to fund criminal activity.

It’s time to turn your calendars to meet RPD Jake from City of London Police!
Jake retired to the countryside with his forever family in January 2022 after working as a cash, drugs and fi****ms detection dog. After many finds, he assisted in offenders facing justice at the Old Bailey where he sits proudly outside in our photo!
