Anyone else originally wish for the snow to go away, but now would actually rather have it back because instead it's all mud and having to clean muddy dogs every day?!?!

On the plus side, I have TWO new blocks of Puppy Classes starting this month to look forward to - a fully booked class starting this Thursday and a 7:15pm class starting on Thursday 30th which has just 4 spaces remaining! 🐾

📢 Exciting news! I'll be adding a second Thursday Puppy class at 7:15pm in Staincross ASAP. Perfect if 6pm is a bit of a rush from work! Please get in touch to reserve your spot, as the sooner this fills, the sooner I will start it.

🐶 7 week course includes:

Happy New Year! 🎉🥂 Thank you to all my fantastic clients who have allowed me to have a small part in your dogs' lives this year, whether it was training a first 'stay' at puppy class, building confidence in a nervous adult dog, or teaching recall to a cheeky Dora the Explorer adolescent, and everything in-between!!

Puppies practicing 'leave' at class last week! We had a bit of a Christmassy theme, so items we were asking them to ignore included tinsel and brussels sprouts 😂 as well as shoes, socks & children's toys! All items puppies usually love to steal! 🧦

Like many dog parents I work with, Helen is such a dedicated owner to her little spaniel cross, Myrtle, and wants (and makes sure she gives) nothing but the best for her! She had made a great start on training but had become a little stuck as to how to push it further and create more consistency, for example with lead walking and unwanted barking related to noises.

I always do my utmost to ensure my clients understand not only *what* they need to do, but also just as importantly *why*. If dog parents can understand their dog's motivators, signals (such as body language) and reasons for their behaviour, I believe this sets them up to be much more successful in their training ✅️

Unfortunately, outdated trainers try to give reward-based/positive trainers a bad name and claim that all we do is 'throw treats around' when really, those of us who have dedicated years to gaining knowledge and understanding of dogs and how they tick put a huge amount of thought into finding solutions that work for each individual dog and the family's unique circumstances (hence why I often ask a lot of questions to make sure I've got all the detail I need!!) 💭

Dogs do NOT need to be 'dominated' or 'show submission' , but rather be understood and treated fairly in our human world! However, I also will not simply tell you to constantly throw treats to your dog, but will instead thoroughly explain what we need to teach him and how! Both my one-to-one and puppy class sessions focus on this 👩‍🏫

Congratulations to Ernie, Cookie, Dexter, Sadie, Mabel, Lady and Otis on completing their Puppy Class this week! 🥳 At this point they'd all worked really hard for the whole session and the puppy agility equipment was set up in front of them, so noone wanted to stay still for a photo 🤣
