Yesterday I had the pleasure to lay my hands on Martha and Bronte - I am allowed to call them by their first names, because they seem to like me.
Officially they are: Russalan Martha Rosa JW and Orrscot Mod de Balliol with Russalan.
Scottish Terriers are one of the breeds where you are allowed to clip certain parts and that's what I watched. Interesting to feel the difference in "harsh" coats, too. Not three coat types like the PRTs, just "harsh, dense and wiry" outer coat.
Thank you, Sally Knight for teaching me the intricate details, which you can only learn directly from the source.
If you do not have the opportunity, then get the book: The Kennelgarth Scottish Terrier Book written by Miss Betty Penn-Bull has fantastic pictures and a very detailed grooming instruction.

Various terriers: 4 Jack Russells, one Patterdale with a variety of coat types @ work here. In the front you can even see a Bedlington (not a handstripped breed), who unfortunately is too big and not fast and flexible enough. But all of them had fun. ;)

We are getting somewhere, but it needs refinement.
From fluffy bunny to groomed without holes is really tricky. Hair pulls very well, but you'll see the skin immediately, which I'd like to avoid ☀️
The Classic Edition double coarse, followed by Rock'N'Roll, which then takes only the longest hair. 💕

Visual of a "broken" coat, which is not damaged as the word might imply, but a mix between smooth and rough. The hair especially on her neck and between the shoulders is quite thick. Her whole body could be stripped, but the bulk came off this area.

Parson Russells, Jack Russells and Patterdales (not KC registered) are examples of this variety of coat type. And no, there is no "long haired" type- "long haired" means those are at the end of their lifecycle, "blown", ready to be stripped off.

The TwinKing 2in1.
Not your average rake, because it is hand dulled - like all tools from Groomer.dk they won't cut the coat! Not made specifically or exclusively for Terriers, but for thick, heavy undercoats.

If your dog has a shorter, tight and flat coat, like Claire's Border Terrier Haggis, you can weave a rubber band trough the teeth to catch that type of hair.

Today was the day - again. Cleaning all tools which are on display and can be tested on your dog(s) when visiting us.
All blades got a good wipe down with Leucillin, which is an animal-friendly antiseptic spray and then have a good sleep in the sterilizer.
The hair which got stuck on the coarse surface of the Diamond Edition tools are brushed off with an old toothbrush. You can clean the TwinKing - especially between the "teeth" - with warm soapy water and a toothbrush. Please make sure your tools are dry before storing them (groomers: use a blaster, at home: use a hair dryer).

In case you use anything alcohol based, please avoid the wooden handles as the wood can shrink over time. Give them a little love in form of beeswax, which will help.
