Have you heard about Holly's Army?

CAM understands that managing a chronic disease like osteoarthritis is hard work. It takes its toll not only on the dog, but also their owner. To support owners through this difficult time we set up Holly's Army - an online community, where owners can share their questions, fears and successes!

What does holly's army do well?

- Providing support to owners from people who have been or are going through an arthritis diagnosis
- Evidenced based info in a friendly accessible way
- Providing a safe place for people to ask questions they might not have thought of with their vet, might think are daft, or just to better understand what’s happening with their dog
- Supporting people who are struggling

🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎

Was invited to the Welsh bhs to attend a 1hr video on winter wellness.

During the talk given by Shaun mckane a vet touched on mud fever. During this part of the talk he discussed the do and donts on treating.

He suggested that we only clean the affected area once with water and use paper towels to dry the area as they can be thrown away in bin once used ensuring no bacteria can be harboured like wet towels being used over and over.
Then apply some dark honey to the area, (if showing infection in you will need a antibiotic from vet) and not to pick off scabs but brush them off later once the condition has cleared itself, not to wash area everyday otherwise you will never get rid of it totally.

What do others think as I was always told to wash everyday and no mention of paper towels or honey.

There’s a group based in Stamford bridge but they walk all over which seems successful

Kerri’s Gonigle is the what’s app contact who runs group, 1hr walks on lead. Some of the dogs are reactive etc but you can give yours the room it needs. Very controlled be ideal for your recovering pet

Could I just remind anyone who is thinking about using a massage therapist that we need permission
From your veterinary practice under the 1966 vet act before we can arrange a massage session, this is to safeguard your pet.
This is normally done by emailing your vet practice asking for written permission signed by vet.
They may ring their clients to confirm or give you a medical reason why they would rather you didn’t use massage at this moment. Usually the sight of written declaration from owner signed by them requesting massage sessions is fine. This safeguards the massage therapists that there are no contra indications why massage should not go ahead. This is a safeguard to owners and therapists alike.
This is for the animals health and well-being, and shows the therapist professionalism.
